When we arrived at camp, Kaleb ran into my arms. "Thank god your back," he whispered.
"I told you'd I come back, and I brought a friend."
"A friend?"
I smiled as Kaleb ran happily over to Shelby. "Shel!" he yelled as she swung him up into her arms.
"Thought I'd never see this boys' happy face ever again," she said.
I giggled and turned to Daryl who was just staring at me. "What are you looking at?" I asked him sweetly.
"Nothin' just you."
DARYL'S P.O.V
I was up late that night, taking the first watch with Shelby. "Can I ask you a question?" I asked her.
"About Aly?"
"Yeah."
"Then sure."
"What kinds of things would she like? You know for me to do for her?"
"Get her a flower, she's always wanted a guy to get her a flower. It's cheesy but she loves it. I would always send her a bundle of roses for valentines day saying they were a secret admirer just to make her smile."
"So she never got any from anyone else?" I asked in disbelief.
"No, when she found out she wouldn't speak to me for months but I made it up to her."
"She should've gotton more attnetion."
"Guys only want one thing from women and Aly wouldn't give them to anyone, she always said she was gonna wait for someone that really loves her."
"Not all men are like that."
"Are you?"
"No," I said.
When the morning came and Dale took over the shift I took the time to rush into the woods to find some type of flower for Aly.
I walked up to a bush where the most beautiful bright blue flowers were growing from a bush. I smiled and picked one off for her.
Thankfully Aly was the only one up, besides Dale and Shleby, when I arrived back at camp.
"Didn't think you'd be awake," I said to her.
She smiled. "Of course I would be, thought I'd find something to make for breakfast."
I handed her the flower. "I found this and thought about you."
Her beautiful brown eyes lit up as she stood to her feet and took the flower. "It's beautiful," she whispered as she took it in her palm. She looked up at me. "Do you mind putting it in my hair?"
"Yeah, course."
She smiled as I placed it right over her ear as I tucked some of her carmel colored hair into it. "Thank you," she whispered.
I nodded. "Welcome."
ALY'S P.O.V
I packed up the last of the tents and hauled it into the back of Daryl's truck. "Where we headin?" I asked him.
"Think they're going to the CDC."
"It was said to have been overrun."
"You know Rick...he's just wanting to try."
"I know, I guess we all have to find a way to live with hope," I said.
"Do you?"
"Do I have a reason to?"
He didn't reply to my comment before lightly brushing against my arm and getting in the drivers side of the truck.
After we all hit the road I yawned. "Tired?"
I nodded. "Go to sleep, I'll wake you when we stop."
"No, you need the rest, switch drivers with me."
"No one drives my truck."
"Am I just anyone?"
I giggled as he smirked lightly. "Still can't drive my truck."
I groaned but leaned back into the seat. "Better wake me up when you get tired, Dixon."
"Or what?"
"You don't want to know."
His smirk was the last thing I saw before I fell asleep. TBC
