Chapter 28

TW: Mentions of blood.

Everyone cheered and where happy to hear the great news. But the nurse also had some bad news as well. It hurt her, she would have to wipe the happy smiles off their faces. Although it's best if they find out now, not later.

"Excuse me for ruining the moment but I have to tell you all this. Prepare yourselves, it might not be the most cheerful thing to here."

All of their smiles turned upside down and the happy tears turned into sad ones.

"What is it?" Asked Thoma.

"Gorou seems to only have multiple bones, deep cuts and some trouble breathing since water filled his lungs. But he will be okay, he'll just have to stay in the hospital for a while. He isn't in the best condition to walk either, so he will have to go into rehabilitation for a little while. Just so he can properly use his legs again." The nurse explained.

"That doesn't seem too bad... But Kazuha, what about him?" Questioned Yoimiya. Even the nurse could barely look at them in the eyes.

"Kazuha was stabbed a couple times and his cuts are a lot deeper. Certain important parts in his body, more specifically his hand may not be able to work properly anymore since the stick was stabbed deep into the flesh, important veins were cut. Same thing for this abdomen. Therefore he will have to undergo serious surgery."

"That's okay, we can pay all the expenses as long as you can save our boys." Said Ningguang.

"About that... I can't guarentee Kazuha will survive the surgery. The survival chance isn't the highest so I suggest not getting your hopes up to high. But I can tell you we will do the best we can to save him. Overall, his condition is much worse, but he broke less bones and his head seems fine. He also will have to go through rehabilitation, not for too long though."

"What's the survival rate?" Asked Ayaka. Tears filled her eyes.

"Under 40%."

Ayaka could take the news anymore. Her head felt so heavy and suddenly her vision was no longer clear. Soon then her body fell onto Yoimiya's. She passed out.

Thoma felt like he suffered from a heart attack. Maybe they were too late? If they arrived earlier, maybe they would've been able to avoid the surgery. The blond felt like it was all his fault. If only they hadn't arrived so late.

Ayato could visibly see how distressed Thoma was. His skin turned so pale and he was holding his heart as if it was going to pump out of his body. As the amazing boyfriend he is, he brought Thoma into a warm embrace and told him everything was going to be okay. They just had to be patient.

"You may all come back to visit them in about a week. They might still be unconscious, but we will let you know if any of them wake up. It's getting late, you all need to go home. Again, I am sorry for the unfortunate news. We are doing what is possible at the moment. We want them to survive as much as you do." The nurse said. She tried to uplift the mood but failed. She watched as everyone left.

She didn't even know the two men but this made her tear up.

Thoma was in class, desperately waiting for a phone call. It's almost been a week and still nothing. Stressing over this whole entire thing is affecting the blond's grades. It was affecting his lifestyle.

He couldn't sleep at night, terrible thoughts of what could happen to Kazuha and Gorou constantly haunted him. He couldn't even do the simplest things as remembering to eat all his meals in a day. Yoimiya or Ayato had to remind
him very often.
