There are nights in which the Madrigal household transforms into a totally different place.

Isabella does her magic, decorating wall to wall with flowers, music flooding through every crevice as bodies were packed together, laughter running around as if it melded with the air itself.

Tonight, the village was celebrating the engagement of Dolores and Mariano, and it felt as though the whole village packed itself in the limited space the casita offered to mark the night.

Camilo watched in amusement as his sister was twirled around the room, her eyes filled with a different sense of joy, love, as Mariano held her gently in her arms, and the two of them seem to be the only ones in the room that were truly basking in each other's presence.

He munched happily on his arepa, cheeks rosy from the heat of the room, eyes tracing everybody, taking in any new faces, although the low numbers, and committing them to memory.

He stopped at a girl, his eyes getting used to her features, the slope of her nose, her fingers tangled with each other with a nervous hold, her eyes seemingly focused on something far away.

She was an unfamiliar face, one he had never seen in his life, one that made his breathing quicken at the small expense of his lungs.

The way her hair was done, the color of the dress she wore that seemed the radiate so beautifully with the color of her skin, the way she seemed so lost in a crowd of people.

He slowly set his arepa down, excusing himself from the stray conversation as he made a beeline towards her, ducking his down as he navigated through a sea of sweaty bodies, finally making his way to the pillar he saw her at.

He felt his brain stop functioning as she was even more beautiful up close, the color her eyes were reflected spectacularly in the colored glass windows, and she seemed to be oblivious to that fact.

He cleared his throat, biting his lip as a strange sense of nervousness settled its way on his nerves.

"Bored?"

You jumped in surprise, the drink in your hand almost spilling over as you peeked around, your heart beating wildly in your chest as your eyes found his hazel ones.

You didn't answer for a while, and he cocked an eyebrow, some of his old confidence come back as he stood up straighter, puffing his chest out.

"You bored?" He repeated, a gentle smile on his face as you looked around, a nervous tick taking over your hands as you shrugged slowly.

"No, not bored," You coughed away some awkwardness in your voice, "A little bit anxious, though." You gave him a shaky grin, resting your back on the pillar behind you.

He looked around to the place you kept looking from behind your shoulders, at the way you almost shielded your body away from the crowd, and he started to put some things together.

"You hiding from someone?"

Your eyes darted to his, mouth opening gin question, eyebrows furrowing at he could tell, but gave him, chest heaving out a sigh as you dimly nodded.
