- soulmate au! red strings of fate
- warnings! i would say slight angst, camilo broke down, fluff ending (surprisingly), a lot shorter than i like it to be👎
Liliana turned a corner into an empty alleyway. She sat beside a stack of crates, hugging her knees closer to her chest and started sobbing. She kept her cries low, she could hear camilo calling out her name. She wanted to come out and listen to him like she always does but it's getting to far. She saw how he looked at you and she couldn't ignore the lovesick gaze he'd unconsciously have whenever he noticed you passed by moreover when you smiled and waved at the both of them.
She heard footsteps.
"um, excuse me," the girl whom approached Liliana was taken aback when she saw liliana's tear stained cheeks.
"Oh my, are you okay?"
'shit, shit, shit' he ran a hand through his hair, looking around for any sight of liliana. He's worried about her and he felt terribly guilty. He knows it's going to happend sooner or later, the breakup he means but he doesn't want it to end up on a bad note.
He needed to find her quick, he needed to run. He turned on his heel and started running in different directions. It probably won't lead him anywhere but he could at least try. That's when he passed by your house, he stopped and looked up and down at the exterior of your house.
He slapped his arm, what is wrong with him?
Just as he turned to start running again, the door creaked open. He froze when your eyes widened at the sight of camilo awkwardly hesitating whether to run away or to stay.
Pushing away the question of his sudden appearance, you hopped down the small steps in front of your house and jogged a little to camilo.
"Is liliana okay?" you kept your hands behind your back but he noticed them almost faltering from that position.
"yeah- no I, I can't find her. I'm worried about her," camilo looked down and gripped his shirt's sleeve. Again, he saw your hand almost reached out for the hand he had on his shirt's sleeve. He's getting a sense of deja vu, when you flinched. He could tell you wanted to reach out to him but the timing could have been more worst.
"woah, are you okay?" you finally gave in and took out a napkin, reaching out to wipe away the tears falling from his eyes.
After realising the stream of water he was crying out, he quickly tried to wipe it away and guided himself to breath so he could stop bursting out, in front of you nonetheless.
"I'm fine, I'll be fine," he rubbed his shoulder, he was still sniffing but it was the best he could do, "i shouldn't be crying, my god. I need to look for liliana,"
He was about to walk away but you held him firmly where he is by the shoulders. He looked at you, confusion evident in his eyes.
"you are in no shape of form to be wondering through encanto and it's getting dark, it's dangerous," now that you pointed it out, he realised the sky was marigold, carrot and honey. His mami might be worried.
"I'm... sorry, I'm sorry," he choked, he wrapped his arms around you and cried. He really doesn't deserve to cry especially when he didn't mean to hurt Liliana. You were so warm, its taking a toll on him. He felt you returning back the hug, your hand softly patting his back to soothe him.
He heard you whispering to let it all out. So he did, he sobbed and between those hiccups and cries, he wished he never did.
"yn im so sorry for this, i like you so much, i dont deserve to be crying on your shoulder," before he knew it, those words came out of his mouth instead of staying put in his head. Camilo felt his heart plumented when he noticed you froze, he pulled back from the hug and clamped his mouth with both of his hands. Meant it was double the embarrassment and along with his tear stained cheeks, his face grew warm.
You stood shocked and tried your best to form words, the darn red string tugging slightly is irritating you. Which is quite ironic for someone who loved seeing people finally found their soulmate.
"Um, camilo," you started softly, "this isn't something we should talk about right now, okay?"
"But I-" camilo kept quiet when he saw you clearly not ready to talk about the matter. He nodded, understanding why you said so.
"Go home and be safe," you looked at him. He replied with another nod and hesitantly moved away from you, walking back home under the stary night. You watched his figure disappear as he walked further away. Your heart beating rapidly, mixed feelings of slight hope and mostly guilt hovering which sent a headache to your head.
You rubbed your temples and went back inside the house. Tonight was insane and the day you finally had to talk to camilo might as well drives you mad.
Days, weeks passed since the last time camilo had accidentally confessed to you, in a terrible timing, might i add.
Camilo had been desperately trying to find liliana and apologise to her. He knew this whole distance was due to a misunderstanding but he cant hide and pretend anymore, it would make things worst. Although, everytime he sees liliana, she avoided him the moment her eyes landed on him, leaving with her friend by her side. It frustrated him, he can't just leave the situation dangling, he could at least explain himself.
He was fighting the urge to approach you as well, worried that you would feel uncomfortable. You personally appreciated his worries but you do hope you would be able to talk with him soon. In the meantime, you would count the days and stare unconsciously at your own string.
One day, camilo managed to caught up with liliana, having her cornered at a dead end. He was breathing heavily, he had found liliana with a friend he had never saw when they dated.
"Liliana, please let me at least explain myself," he lifted both of his hands up. He dropped it back down when liliana sighed and nodded.
He took a deep breath and from the corner of his eye, he can feel liliana's friend scowling af him.
"when i fell on her, that was accident i swear. I was about to look for you but something pulled me and made me fell. I just wanted to clear that up and I'm really sorry for making you feel horrible. Is there anyway i could make it up to you?"
After he finished, he was glad to see liliana had softened a little.
"Camilo, there's nothing to be sorry about your feelings. I'm really sorry for accusing you of cheating on me. I knew you wouldn't do that but i was taken over by the fact that you spent too much time with yn," liliana stuck a hand out, "mutual apologies and friends?"
Camilo gave a bright smile for the first time in those few weeks. He grabbed liliana's hand and nodded, "mutual and friends,"
The both of them pulled away and liliana gestured to the girl beside her, "Camilo, meet Eric. I met her a few weeks ago, Eric this is Camilo, my friend,"
Eric who was at first bothered by camilo, had a smile on her face when liliana introduced her. Eric nodded towards camilo as a greeting to which he returned as well.
From there, camilo and liliana chatted with eric joining them once in a while. A few teasing had been thrown here and there, mostly towards camilo.
"You confessed to them a few weeks ago on ACCIDENT?" liliana almost shrieked.
"I wasnt- i was overwhelmed in my defence!"
"Camilo, has you former partner-" she pat his shoulder, "you need to talk to them. Maybe not like now but soon,"
Camilo let out a sarcastic laugh "haha, no. They were probably freaked out when i said that,"
"it'll be fine, camilo,"
"yeah, don't be a coward," eric chimed in after a while.
Camilo raised an eyebrow at eric to which she shrugged nonchalantly. Eric is funny, camilo noted.
"We have to go now, about time we do our chores," liliana looked down at her wrist watch before smiling at camilo and past by him to continue her chores with eric trailing behind.
"and talk to them!" Liliana shouted.
"i know!" camilo waved them goodbye and let out a breath of relief.
And now, to prepare for the time he talks to you.
