"You look great stop worrying!" I assured Elena as she one more pulled at the hem of her skirt.

We, Elena , Caroline, Bonnie and myself, were in the bathrooms at the mystic grill, readjusting make up and the like before we went out to view or perform in the talent contest.

"Are you sure? It seems a bit short?" Elena asked again.

The normally ever so patient Bonnie sighed in frustration, "Elena Gilbert! You look stunning! Will you stop fussing? The guys are out there now waiting for us."

Elena smiled a small, nervous smile as we exited the bathroom, and headed towards the table the boys, Matt, Stefan, Jeremy and Damon, were seated at. Everybody quickly took there seats, leaving the only empty seat next to Damon. Great!

I sat but edged my body ,as much as possible without making it noticeable, away from Damon.

"Well it is nice to have you in our company Sis!" Damon said at a volume only vampires could here.

"Im not in town to cause trouble Damon, I'm here because this is where we grew up. I have as much right to be here as you y'know" I replied in the same town you might use to talk to a toddler.

Damon, toddler, well they have the same brain capacity.

I was getting increasingly frustrated with my brothers Attempts to see what I was up to.

I'd told them, but it hadn't stopped them re-asking to try and catch me out if I was lying.

The talent show was OK, but it wasn't something That you'd see again If you get what I mean.

"Next up is Cass Salvatore singing Run, by Taylor Swift!" the commentator, Mrs Lockwood, looked at me hopefully and grinned.

I smiled back and made my way up on the stage.

"If there's a plane or a bus leaving Dallas

I hope you're on it

If there's a train moving fast down the tracks

I hope you caught it

'Cause I swear out there ain't where

You outta be

So catch a ride or catch a cab

Don't you know that I miss you bad

But don't you walk to me

Baby run

Cut a path across the blue sky

Straight in a straight line

You can't get here fast enough

Find a truck and fire it up

Lean on the gas and off the clutch

Leave Dallas in the dust

I need you in a rush

So baby run

So baby run

Oh if you aint got a suitcase

Get a box

Or an old brown paper sack

Pack it light or pack it heavy

Take a truck, take a Chevy

Baby just come back

There's a short cut to the highway out of town

Why don't ya take it

Don't let that speed limit slow ya down

Go on and break it

Baby break it

And run

Cut a path across the blue sky

Straight in a straight line

You can't get here fast enough

Find a truck and fire it up

Lean on the gas and off the clutch

Leave Dallas in the dust

I need you in a rush

So baby run

Run to me

Baby run

Run to me

So baby run

Run

Oh baby run"

I mock curtsyed, and made my way off the stage to the sound of applause. If I could blush I probably would be.

"That was amazing!" Bonnie greeted me excitedly as I thanked each person at the table for there generous comments.

If only they knew why I sang it!

Nobody knew about William except me. I hadn't trusted any of the immortals that I'd met along my travels with the story.

William was from fells church, a few towns over from here.

He was a real gentleman, he'd grown up in the 1600's, and knew how to treat a woman.

He was a vampire too in case you were wondering.

I met Will when I was a few weeks old. He was the one that had shown me how to live without being caught, and he was the one who tought me how to love.

During the war he went to Dallas. He fought for the Union, and he'd never let a southener beat him.

Every week I'd get a letter, telling me how he was, and how much he missed me.

Then one week I never got a letter. Nor the next. Or the week after that. Lexi advised me to stay up north, for fear I would be destroyed.

After the war ended, I went down to see if I could find him, noone could tell me where he was.

And I'm still waiting for that letter.
