6 months had passed since the whole drama with Carla happened and we were discharged from the hospital.
Ruby moved into another apartment and began to pursue her passion of photography.
I moved back in with Mason and our relationship was going really great.
We had argued very little the last few months and we wanted to take it slow at first so we could get it right this time.
I dropped out of college because the dream of becoming a lawyer wasn't mine, it was my mom's.
I only ever did what others asked of me, but never what I wanted.
I wanted to be a writer.
I loved reading books and writing was a passion of mine that I had never known until now.
Mason continued with his training as a police officer and day by day he was getting hotter.
I sat on the couch and thought about my life.
I was finally happy in life.
Mason should be home from work any minute and tell me about his day.
I had cooked us spaghetti and I was waiting for him.
The door opened and I saw Mason come in.

,,Hey baby," he said.

,,Hey"

,,How was your day?" I asked.

,,I got to use a gun for the first time," he explained.

,,How was your day?" he asked, putting his car keys on the table.

,,Quite well, I worked on my book," I explained.

,,Will you ever tell me what your book is about?" he asked with a grin.

,,Maybe in another life," I replied.

He grinned at me and hugged me from behind.

,,I cooked a delicious meal," I said as he cupped my neck.

I knew exactly what he was trying to do.

,,Hands off until after dinner Davis!" I scolded.

He said, "Yes, sir," and stood up like a soldier.

We had a leisurely dinner and just when I thought we had all the problems behind us, the doorbell rang.

,,Who could that be?" I asked.

,,I bet you that Carla has risen from the dead," he said and I gave him a gentle push.

We both went to the front door and opened it.
At the front door was a young man about Mason's age.
He was really handsome.
He had dark blond hair and brown eyes.

,,Is there anything we can do to help you?" asked Mason.

,,Hi, I'm Nate.
Nate Davis.
Um...your... half-brother," the stranger said, and I watched as all the color disappeared from Mason's face.

I guess we still have an obstacle ahead of us.
