He took me back to the dorm, but Mason didn't stay long because he had something to do and I decided to go into town after class.
I had already missed the first two classes at the university, so now I had to sneak back into class as inconspicuously as possible without the professor noticing.
Everyone sat in their seats and I did the best I could think of.
I knelt on the floor and crawled under the students' legs to my seat.
Many stepped on my hands and stared at me stupidly and I could even swear someone was cursing at me in Spanish.
Once at my seat I pulled my notepad out of my bag and opened the book we were reading.
Jane eyre written by Charlotte Brontë.
I should have read through the book over the weekend, but I had bigger things to worry about than reading and writing an essay about it.,,Ms. White, would you like to tell us what you think of the book?" The professor asked.
Shit!
He had seen me.
What should I say now?,,In my opinion, Jane was an admirable and strong woman," I said.
He said, "Justify your opinion," as if he were about to rejoice because I would surely say something wrong.
,,A penniless orphan and governess falls in love with her rich employer and ends up marrying him after overcoming adverse circumstances through exemplary behavior. What sounds like a kitsch monstrosity is in fact the largely authentic life and love story of an unusual woman in 19th century England, at a time of prudery and strict conventions. Despite her almost hopeless starting position, Jane Eyre is not a homebody waiting for the great love, but an independent and strong woman. She always fights for respect and for the preservation of her personal freedom, even if she sometimes has to sacrifice a lot for it," I said, and everyone in the room stared at me with open mouths.
Oh, hadn't I mentioned it?
Jane eyre is one of my favorite books that I have read over a thousand times.,,Thank you, ms. White," the professor said, annoyed.
I wish I had taken a picture of his face because it was laughing to death.
After class, I took the subway into town to get some new clothes because mine had gotten too tight on me.
I had gained a few pounds in the last few weeks, so I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore.
These blonde saleswomen all wanted to rip me off.
I paid $120 for 3 dresses that weren't even anything special.
Maybe I'm just not used to spending that much money on clothes because I used to borrow all my clothes from Carla.
It was starting to get dark outside and I couldn't believe how much time you could spend at the mall.I was making my way to the subway when suddenly I saw Carla across the street talking to someone.
,,I called out, "Carla," but she didn't notice me.
I was about to go to the other side of the street when I noticed who she was talking to.
Ace.
I stopped rooted to the spot and quickly hid behind a tree.
Why the hell is she talking to Ace?
Wait.
Does she even know what he was trying to do to me?
I hadn't talked to her in a long time because she disappeared without a trace after the party at Mason's.
What are they talking about?
Ace was dressed all in black.
He looked like someone on the run.
It looked like the two were arguing about something because Carla had her angry look and Ace was waving his hands around wildly.
What the heck is going on here anyway?
Carla handed him a yellow envelope and he quickly pocketed it.
What's in the envelope?
Money?
Why is Carla giving him money?
If Ace wasn't there, I would go over there right now and confront them, but after everything, I just can't.
I will never forgive him for what he tried to do to me because he is a sick person.
Ace left afterwards and before I could even think Carla was gone too.
I looked around everywhere and far and wide there was no one.
How can she always disappear so quickly?
Maybe she is a vampire or something.
Or maybe I'm just crazy.
That's weird.
Should I call her and confront her?
No.
I'll figure it out myself, come what may.
Arriving at the dorm, I sorted my new clothes by color and settled into my bed when a message came from Mason.,,Be at your place in 10 minutes, get ready" he wrote.
What was he planning?
Like a date?
Like a normal couple?
I liked the idea because after many obstacles we can do something as a couple. There's one thing I can't get out of my head.
What were they arguing about and why?
It's none of my business, but for some reason I can't get the thought out of my head that it had something to do with me.
