I opened my eyes and lucky for me, Mason was across from me.
Waking up next to him every morning is the greatest feeling in the world.
It feels like my heart is complete. It has been 3 weeks since I told him about the pregnancy.
He was even more careful with me than usual. No way did he let me carry or cook anything.
I did tell him that I could handle it all and that he didn't have to worry about me, but he wouldn't hear of it.Every time I went to the gynecologist he went with me and I will never forget the moment when he saw our baby for the first time on the ultrasound.
His green eyes were shining and he was looking at the picture as if hypnotized.
A tear rolled down his face and he had a smile on his beautiful face, which radiated pure happiness.Mason was right.
We have both been through so much in our relationship and experienced so much pain that this child is our chance for hope.
Hope for a happy life and a future.I looked back at Mason and I stroked his full hair.
God, what I would give to lie here with him forever. He opened his eyes and his green eyes pierced me the way they always did.
,,Hey," I breathed.
A small smile formed on his face, which made my heart soar.
,,How is my child?" he asked.
,,Thank you for asking, I'm fine," I said with a grin.
,,I'm sorry, how are my child and my queen?" he asked.
,,We are very well," I said.
I asked, "What are we going to call it?" because we have never talked about it in these weeks, although our topics of conversation are only about the baby.
,,I don't know, Tom?" said Mason.
I had to laugh at the thought.
,,Tom? Are you serious?" I asked with a grin.
,,I couldn't think of anything better." he admitted.
,,No way!" I scolded.
,,All right, but what else should we call it? We don't even know the sex yet," he said.
He was right.
,,Today we will find out," I said.
,,I have been waiting for this day for so long," he said.
,,Me too, what more do you want?" I asked.
,,A princess," he said.
,,Really? A girl? I wouldn't have thought that of you.
Most men want a young one," I said.,,Well, not me.
I want a princess and to spoil her from head to toe," he said.,,But girls have such a hard time in life.
Much harder than boys," I said from my own experience.,,That's not true," he said.
,,Yes, we girls get our period, we have to go through childbirth and we are sexualized by society.
Not to mention that we girls are expected to cook, clean and take care of the household.
We're always told don't wear too revealing clothes or you'll be labeled a slut and that everyone wants us just for our bodies, but if we cover up too much we're straight up a virgin that no one wants," I said.Mason looked at me empathetically.
,,I know baby, you have it harder in life, but I will make sure our child has a better life than we had," he said.
