Chapter 49

After an hour, me and Ruby woke up on the couch.
Ruby looked terribly scared and tired.

,,We'll figure it out, just like we always do," I said.

,,No, Britt, not this time. He will take revenge for everything and do it again. It's hard for me to say this, but I think I have to leave the country," she said and I felt my chest tighten.

,,Wait, what? No! No way, we'll report him again and I won't let him hurt you" I said and took her in my arms.

She started to cry until suddenly the doorbell rang.

,,That's him for sure," she sobbed.

,,No it's not, don't worry" I said and slowly went to the door.

Who would have thought it, it was Carla.

When I opened the door, she jumped into my arms.

,,Oh my god, hey, I heard you could use some support" she said and came in.

I hadn't invited her to come in, but she sat down next to Ruby anyway.

,,Ruby, don't cry, he won't hurt you," she said with a grin.

Her tone sounded somehow cheerful.

,,You don't know that," Ruby hissed.

,,Somebody is in a bad mood, should I call Erik and ask him to come here" she said and laughed.

,,Carla! That's not funny," I said.

Now was really not the time for jokes.

,,It's okay," she said and put her hands in the air.

,,Britney is right, I have to leave the country if I don't want him to hurt me," Ruby said.

,,Yeah, I agree," said Carla.

,,What no! Are you both crazy, Erik will find you in a few years and do the same thing, you can't give up now" I said.

,,You're right" said Ruby.

,,What no?" said Carla.

,,I will not rest until he is in prison," said Ruby.

,,Yes, that's the right attitude," I said.

,,Hello, may I say something too?" Carla asked annoyed.

,,No, it's none of your business!" hissed Ruby.

Carla blushed with anger and dug her nails into the couch.
What's wrong with her? Why is she acting like this?

,,Carla, she's right, this is between Ruby and me, whoever bailed her out is a psychopath," I said.

,,Yes, a psychopath," Carla said softly.

,,And besides, it's none of your business either," Carla said to me.

,,What? Of course it's my business, he attacked me too," I said.

When I said that, Carla's face turned pale.

,,What? He hurt you?" she asked, stammering.

,,Yes, where do you think the bruises came from," I said.

She tensed up and she was really starting to scare me.

,,I have to go," Carla said and stood up.

,,Wait, where are you going?" I asked.

,,I have to sort something out," she said and stormed out of the front door.

,,She's such a sick bitch," Ruby said.
