When we arrived, we went into the forest.

When we arrived, everything looked the same as before, if not more beautiful.
The wind was blowing through my hair and I was breathing in the fresh cold air.
I don't know if I'm just imagining it, but this place looks even more magical than usual.
,,What are we doing here?" I asked.
He said nothing, but pointed to the shore.
There was a lantern next to the shore.
No, I'm serious.
There literally stood a giant lantern.
The kind of lantern you light at night until it blows up.
I looked at it confused.
,,I thought we needed closure for Hope so we could move forward, so I thought we could put some of Hope's stuff in the basket of the lantern and let it out into the world," he said and my heart melted.
,,Wh-what?" I asked.
,,We need closure so we can finally find peace.
We can't have a funeral, but at least something like this," he said.
I looked around and tears came to my eyes.
I really didn't deserve Mason.
,,Is it okay?" he asked.
,,More than okay," I said, and he leaned over to kiss me.
,,When did you arrange all this?" I asked.
,,This morning I didn't go to the station, but got the lantern instead," he explained.
I nodded silently and we walked in the direction of the lantern.
,,But wait, we didn't bring anything," I said.
,,Look in the basket," he said, pointing to the lantern.
I looked inside and saw Hope's bracelet that we had bought her once and her pacifier.
There was also a letter inside.
,,Is the letter from you?" I asked.
,,There is nothing in the letter, not yet," he said.
,,What do you mean?" I asked.
,,We're going to write the letter together," he explained.
I smiled and tears started to fall again.
I am really a crybaby.
We sat down on the shore and we started to write.
,,Our beloved Hope,
we want you to know that mommy and daddy love you more than anything.
Even though we will never know you we know that you are a unique and wonderful girl.
We love you more than anything and we are so sorry we never held you.
Know that you will always be in our hearts and that we will visit you right here every year on the day you die.
You are also a part of our definition of forever and you always will be because you are a Davis.
We love you princess.
Your mom and dad." we wrote and tears fell from both of us.
,,So we will come here every year on the day she dies?" I asked.
,,Yes, Britney, every year on October 20th.
,,So in one year we will come again," I said.
,,Yes baby," he said.
We both put the letter in the basket and Mason took the lighter out of his pants.
We lit the lantern and watched it shine brightly as it flew higher and higher.
,,Forever," I said.
,,Forever," he repeated and we both watched as our Hope flew away.
He held me tightly, but that was the closure I needed.
I will never forget this moment.
On October 20 we will come back here and light a lantern to hold our Hope in honor.
20.10 this date will stay with us forever.
