Kalen - Chapter 8
That night I couldn't sleep. I was pacing around my room and just sent a soldier to get me a coffee. It was the 5th time I drank it tonight, but I couldn't sleep at all. The king was furious after Sir Caldor left. The queen tried to calm him down but he started screaming at her for not raising Kendra right, and she eventually left the dinning room. I couldn't help but think that something horrible would happen. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I wanted to go tell Kendra, but that wouldn't be fitting. If I went there and someone saw me then rumours would be created that will put Kendra in more trouble. Your being stupid, she hates you anyways, I thought. But something urged me to not believe that. I prayed that everything would be alright, and the king's anger would fade away. A soldier came waddling in with my coffee, I took it and thanked him. I sat at the table and rested my head in my hands. All I could think about was the darkness in Kendra's eyes when she heard what the king said. Dawn crept by, and I watched the sun rise. Sleep took me only then.
