Kendra – chapter 20
The look on Caldor's face was priceless, he was astonished when Kalen protected me. As we walked to the dinning room a lot of glances met us on our way, I nodded to them and walked onwards. I already told Caldor, I won't bow down to any men, no matter what. I will not be the doormat he rubs his shoes on.
Late dinner with Kalen was awkward we didn't speak for a long while, but then I decided I needed to thank him, "Thanks so much Kalen, if it wasn't for your things could have been a little" I gesture in an awkward way. He lets out a quite chuckle.
"What will you do now, he is bound to do something once your reach your chambers" he whispers in a hushed tone. I take his words in slowly, my head hurts just thinking about it. I sigh and respond, "Whatever it takes, I won't be a toy that he can just play around with. It's about time he learns so as well!" Kalen nods approvingly, I will need no man's consent and I shall give no consent to men either.
After dinner, I bid farewell to Kalen, giving him a big hug. Caldor can fight all he wants; Kalen will always be my best friend after Ally. Caldor was waiting inside when I arrived, he was leaning against the wall at the balcony, starring at the stars. I walked to the dressing room, to change into a cotton night gown. As soon as I came out Caldor's eyes where on me. I walked to the bookcase and pull out a random book. I position myself on the couch and start reading. "it's not going to work out well if you don't cooperate with me you know" his voice felt cold and bitter.
"Well, I didn't plan for it to work well, did I? send me back to Esmond and take someone else, maybe someone who will actually care" I reply, in the same bitter, sweet tone. I hear Caldor, sigh annoyingly. He grabbed his sword and attached it to his belt and left me alone. What has got into him? Why does he care so much? He literally wants to control me, but I'm not like other women I'm a feminist, and I will not only speak for myself but all women. I fell asleep on the couch; I don't want his hands on me.
