Kendra - chapter 5

As soon as I woke up, Ally came rushing with thousands of silks. I stood up and let her wrap me like a present in an elegant, emerald coloured dress. "The queen took away your armour for cleaning, so I'm dressing you in the least fancy dress I could find, you'll still be able to fight though don't worry" Ally assured me. I sighed and Ally took it as a yes. she styled my hair into a braid with strands of soft hair coming out at the front. She then strapped a sword with a beautiful green sheath at my hips. Then she pampered my face with powders that smelled awfully nice. "Ok done, breakfast is at the table, you can eat and then go find your knight" Ally added in a colourful voice. I ignored her as I sat down and stuffed my face, with toast. I sighed as I stood up and let my guards escort me to the library. I stopped to meet my brother, Lucas Dustmore, in the halls. "Good morning" he said cheerfully. I returned his greeting and walked through the halls once more. Let's just say we didn't have the best relationship, and since I was older he would always riot and get angry over the throne. Which was a matter I truly hated arguing about.

I stood in front of the library doors as the guards bowed down and pushed the giant doors open. The library was beautiful. It was filled with so many memories and books of the past. I always came here when I needed to escape the reality of life. With the books I felt complete and happy.

I came to where Kalen was standing, a book resting in his soft, hands. He looked at me and shifted his gaze back to the book. I sighed as I watched him reading standing just a foot away. His eyes swayed back and forth as he observed the writing. I walked through the bookshelves, running my fingers along the spines of the books. Searching for a title that would indulge me. I shrugged at a book named swords play at its finest and grabbed the chunky book. I walked back towards Kalen, who was staring at me with a raised eyebrow. "Do you need any help?" he asked casually. And I shook my head as I took a seat on a large cosy chair. He went back to reading as he rested against the wall. After what seemed like a lifetime, I decided to speak to him. "I have my sword at my side, and I could really go for a fight... maybe one that's suitable towards my standards" I declared. He looked up at me and grinned.

"Shall we go then, my lady?" Kalen asked, he extended his arm out and I looped my left hand through it. We walked towards the training room talking about how stupid the ball was yesterday. Nobles and ladies of court stared as they saw him laugh with me, hand in hand, whenever I mentioned the disgusting smells and fragrances people use these days. Sir Caldor stopped us on the way. Oh, how much I loathed him, "Good morning, your highness, you seem quite cheery today" he added as he kissed my knuckles.

"Good morning to you too, Caldor" I added, forcing a smile. He looked at me up and down and couple of times the shifted his glance towards Kalen. Kalen gave him a quick smile. And looked at me. Teasing Sir Caldor as he grinned, "Shall we go my love, we have much more important things to do today!" Kalen winked at the end of his sentence. Sir Caldor's jaw dropped low.

"Yes of course, my love. I can't breathe in this corset, and Ally is busy, you don't mind helping me do you" I requested in a tired voice. Kalen smiled brightly and responded, "No worries darling, let's go fix that first of all things," We then walked past Sir Caldor who was frustrated. We rounded the corner. And started cackling. It was hilarious when Caldor thought we were a couple. However something in me wanted that moment to actually be true.
