Kalen – chapter 13

After 2 hours outside the sun started setting and the guests ran to the ballroom. I was instructed to stay with the king so I leaded him to his seat. Kendra led Caldor to the centre of the room, and they began swaying. Caldor had his arms around her waist and joked with her. Her laughter was louder than the music and the guest kept glancing in her direction. Her hands where around his neck, and he occasionally moved his arms around her. She looked happy but her eyes darkened as he did so, something told me she felt uncomfortable. I imagined myself in Caldor's place. Would she laugh at my jokes like that? He dug his head into her neck and kissed her necklaces. He looked happy and powerful as if the world was at his feet. I wanted to die right there and see no more, however know I would see worser things at Vowen and I would feel corrupted every time I look at them together. The guards were preparing the horses outside and were decorating their carriage. Their laughter lasted so long, and he never took his hands of her. He kept them on his possession, he liked the feeling of having her in his arms. She however looked a out of place. And that is how the night went. No one left the ballroom, so when Kendra and Caldor left the room to get to their carriage some of them followed to say goodbye.

Ally wrapped Kendra in a white cloak that was embroidered with thousands of designs. Caldor, talked with the king as Kendra hung on to Ally, she wouldn't let go, her tears fell over Ally's shoulders gracefully. Ally hushed her and didn't let go either. Kendra didn't show this affection to anyone else other than Ally. The queen came to her side and calmed her tears down with assuring words. She promised that she would send Ally to her in a weeks' time, and Kendra looked up at Ally who nodded cheerfully. I felt like crying to, but I kept my head up and my hands behind my back. She gave Ally a hug, and fid farewell to her father, and mother. She held her brother in her arms awkwardly. Caldor clapped Lucas on the back, and they said their goodbyes. I opened the door of the carriage and they jumped in. I said my farewell and mounted my horse. And then we rode to Vowen.
