Kendra – chapter 17

His grip tightened overnight, I could feel his greed, I remember when we were young. We ran through the hallways, giggling around. I wanted him back, he was different. I couldn't recognize him as we grew older, he was overtaken by his greed. I wave of sadness took over me, I remember how we used to sneak around scaring the servants. He pulled me closer, and I felt him warmth, somewhere maybe inside him the small boy still lived. In the morning we both woke up late. It was one in the afternoon, we stayed their eyes open, in each other's arms. I slowly, sat up, he looked at me. His eyes were lighter today. He looked up at me as I sat back up. I pulled open the curtains and he groaned at the flash of light. I got up and changed, he was combing his hair as the maids did mine. Today was the day of the week I usually trained with Kalen, so out of habit I grab my sword. Caldor raises an eyebrow at this. "You wouldn't be needing that here, Kendra" he declared with confidence. I look up to meet his eye. I sigh and reply, "I have training with Kalen!" Caldor squared his shoulders and the maids left quickly. "Why don't I train you, I am free today" he asks.

"Kalen is already waiting, maybe next week" I drawled, I liked seeing him jealous. Me shrugs but I can tell he is deeply annoyed. He can't send Kalen back, he knows it. The people will think he is not letting me decide for myself. As I was about to leave, he walks up to me, and roughly pushes his lips against mine, till my back is pressed to the wall. Jealousy I can feel it through his touch. He steps back and I take it as my leave. He's acting like I never slapped him. It wouldn't look good obviously if I came out with a bruise the next day. It would make the citizens speak. Caldor did everything for his honour. I knock on Kalen's door, and he answers it quickly. He is very a high generals uniform I gifted him. "Your highness, I was just coming!" he announces. I raise my eyebrows at this, he's acting so princely.

"Oh, shut up, and call me Kendra" I cackled. He laughed at this to and I took his arm. I was aware of the eyes that followed me. Caldor's gaze above all as I joked around with Kalen. Practice was good, I stayed an extra hour just trying to get away from Caldor.
