Kendra – chapter 11
I was startled awake, but the noise of books falling. My shock woke up Caldor to. I stood up quickly alarmed by the thought of someone seeing me asleep next to Caldor. Caldor himself wasn't aware of what happened, and he stood up slowly and stretched his arms. My back was sore due to the position. "What happened?" Caldor asked me while he picked up my crown. So, he was a sound sleeper, that would come in handy later in Vowen.
I turned around to face him, "I thought I heard someone" I guessed. Caldor sighed and walked to the map of Vowen, I followed him there and observed the palace I would be staying in. "Are you embarrassed to be seen with me, you jumped really quickly when you thought you heard someone" he questioned. I turned to look at him instead of the map, and swallowed hard, I was somehow certain he could read my eyes by the way he looks at them. "Well, you're my future husband, so I guess I do have to get comfortable sooner or later." He looked at me carefully and then clicked him tongue. He placed the crown on my head slowly. He walked behind me and slid his arms around my waist, so we were both facing the map.
The position was awkward I had ever been held in such way. He started pointing out the route we would take, and he talked about the structure of Vowen and how it would look like. Ever so often he stopped to kiss the back of my head. It felt so awkward and weird. But I guess Caldor had wanted this for a while, because as the time went by his grip tightened as he brought my back closer to his chest. Luckily, I was saved by a guard who announced that dinner was ready, and the king awaited us. I quickened my steps, so I got the room quickly, but Caldor acted like he had all the time in the world. He walked slowly and joked about people passing by. I forced my laugh and took a deep breath as we entered the dining hall.
Kalen was absent and the king just said he told Kalen to do something for him and he's probably busy doing it right now. Dinner passed by a bit to quick for my liking. I excused myself to my chambers and luckily Caldor didn't follow. He said he had to handle an issue that popped up in Vowen. I prayed that he wouldn't come to me tonight.
