The next day, Heeyeon and Jaemin were at the store as planned. They strolled side by side as they picked out linens, towels and other toiletries Jaemin might need. Heeyeon got distracted when they walked down the aisle full of stuffed animals. She loved soft, cute things like plushies.
Her eyes landed on a blue, stuffed bunny and she thought it was perfect for her. Since Jisung calls her a bunny and because her favorite color is blue. Heeyeon fought the urge to throw it in the cart and she won, walking away with only a slight reluctancy. Jaemin saw the whole thing go down but he didn't say anything. He just watched as she returned to his side.
While checking out, another pair of eyes lands on Heeyeon and Jaemin. The owner of said eyes pulls out their phone and dials a number. "Hey, Heeyeon's your girlfriend right?" The voice asked.
"Umm yeah...why? Who is this?" He questioned. The call was so random. "You don't have my number saved?!" The girl pouted. Jisung just rolled his eyes. "It's NingNing!" She whined. NingNing has had a crush on Jisung for a while now and she wasn't discreet about it at all. She was actually quite annoying. The only reason she even had Jisung's number is because they had gotten paired together on a project once.
"Anyway, I just saw her walking through the store with another guy. And they got in the car together. He's not as tall as you but he is pretty handsome. I've never seen him at school either. He actually looks a bit older than us." She tattled. NingNing thought she had caught Heeyeon cheating. But Jisung knew better than to listen to her.
But that didn't stop him from wondering if she was telling the truth. The call was pretty random. Jisung shook the ideas from his mind. He couldn't do that to Heeyeon, just trust what someone else says about her. He was going to trust Heeyeon and come to his own conclusion. This guy probably didn't even exist.
He hung up with NingNing and immediately called Heeyeon. "Hey, Jisung I'm a little busy right now. Let me call you back later, okay?" She blurted out while she was driving. She knew better than to talk and drive but she didn't want to just ignore his call either.
She didn't think much of it but it made Jisung question whether NingNing was right. He didn't know that she was just driving. His mind automatically envisioned the worst. The pieces started to fall together. She had to leave abruptly yesterday and now she was blowing him off. It reminded him too much of another situation he was in.
There's no way. She would never do something like that, right?
Jisung decided to find out for himself. He drove over to her apartment and knocked on the door. He was not expecting to be met with another guy. He kind of matched NingNing's vague description. Jisung's heart dropped. "Yeonie, you have a guest!" He announced with a smirk.
"Nana, come in here and fix the sheets!" She instructed. They had been previously trying to put the new sheets on the bed and set his room up. Jisung watched as the guy in front of him was replaced with a girl. His mind was spinning from everything he just heard.
"Hi Ji-" She began but she was cut off. "Heeyeon. What's going on here?" He questioned almost in a pleading tone. "What are you talking about?" She asked innocently. She studied the hardened expression on his face and came to the conclusion that he was upset.
"Don't play dumb, please. Just tell me. Are you cheating on me?" His voice gradually increased in volume. Heeyeon couldn't believe what he was asking her. It made her mind drift back to a painful moment in her past. "Jisung, no. Please leave." She stated trying to calm herself. Her eyes were beginning to sting.
Jisung wasn't convinced. "Just tell me who he is?!" He shouted, causing Heeyeon to flinch. That reaction alone was enough to make him already regretful. "He's my cousin." She spoke barely above a whisper. She looked him in the eyes one last time. At this moment he realized he had messed up. Badly. The hurt in her eyes was so prominent.
Before he could say anything else. The door was slammed in his face. He didn't dare to try and knock again, he just walked to his care in shame. "Great job, Jisung. You hurt her." He scolded himself out loud. The only thing he could think to do was text her an apology then go to Anjae for advice.
Heeyeon ran to her bedroom in an attempt to stop herself from breaking down. All of the memories that it brought back were overwhelming. The stinging in her eyes had turned to burning. Her lip began to quake and body began to tremble. She couldn't hold it in anymore.
Jaemin eventually wandered into her room and found the girl sitting on the floor with her face buried in her arms resting on her knees. He heard soft sniffles and it didn't take him long to piece together that the girl was crying. It hurt him physically to see her like this.
He sat next to her and gently removed her hair from around her face. She raised her head to look at him. He studied her tear-stained face. "What happened?" He asked softly. Heeyeon took a deep breath before responding. Her voice hitched and it made Jaemin nearly start crying.
"He accused me of cheating on him. It hurt me and it made me think of what happened with Minseo." Minseo was Heeyeon's ex, aka the reason she had to move away. "All of the memories came rushing back." Her voice trembled as she spoke. She was trying her hardest to speak clearly without breaking into tears again.
"Yeonie..." he spoke her name in a soothing tone. He patted her head gently. "You're going to be okay. Let's get you up." He stood up and extended a hand to the girl still on the floor. When she stood up he pulled her into a warm hug and squeezed her tightly. This only made the tears rush in stronger. "It's okay, let it out." Jaemin encouraged.
He knew that everyone needed an outlet. Heeyeon didn't necessarily have one so in this moment now, he wanted her to get everything out. It's not good to bottle emotions up because then they'll explode and it won't be pretty. That's why Jaemin prefers to recharge silently and alone.
Heeyeon hadn't cried this hard since the incident with Minseo happened. She didn't enjoy crying but she couldn't stop it now. After she was done, Jaemin took good care of her. He brought her ice cream and did anything else he could to try and make her feel better. Heeyeon appreciated this greatly.

Jisung walked into Anjae's house without knocking since the door happened to be open. He walked straight up to her bedroom after greeting her mother. "Jisung? Why didn't you knock?! I could have been naked!" She shouted angrily.
Jisung didn't even react. "Anjae, I messed up." He spoke. "What do you mean by that?" She asked warily. "With Heeyeon, I hurt her. Feelings, I mean. Not physically." He clarifies. This would be the second time Jisung has upset someone very special to him. First person being Anjae.
Jisung explained the whole thing to Anjae. Angry was an understatement. She chewed him out for jumping to conclusions and for believing NingNing of all people. As the girl fussed and scolded, he didn't speak. She was right. He was dumb for believing NingNing and for jumping to conclusions.
"You need to apologize to her, immediately. Heeyeon really likes you and I could tell that you made her happy. Jisung, I'm very disappointed in you." Her big sister persona had fully taken over. Jisung knew Anjae was right and he knew that he would have to apologize to Heeyeon but he also knew that she would probably need space.
Now, he just had to wait for the right time.
How do we feel?
