Roughly 7 months after the incident where Sirius somehow snuck into the castle and tried to get into the Gryffindor common room, my day would take a drastic change after dinner.
It was a full moon and I wanted to get the shrieking shack ready for my dad.
While I knew I couldn't stay with him due to his lycanthropy, I could try and make him as comfortable as possible.
By this I mean make sure he has food and water for AFTER the transformation, and clothes to wear back to the castle.
While he insists I don't have to do this, he seems to appreciate it, it's one less thing he has to worry about.
I grabbed some loose fitting clothes, he's always sore after a full moon and it seems to help, as well as a bottle of water and a box of Bourbon Biscuits I'd bought the week before, stuffing them into my book bag and heading towards the whomping willow.
The food I was bringing was intentional, it consists of 2 chocolate biscuits with a chocolate kreme in between the two.
While it doesn't sound like much, he seems to find it humorous that I leave chocolate for him, though I have no idea why... He's always eating it, it just makes sense to me.
When I got there I saw Percy's little brother Ron chasing after something on the ground, when he finally caught it I was able to see that he'd been chasing his rat Scabbers.
I couldn't get to the tunnel until they left, it'd give away it's hiding spot and could put people in danger.
I stood in the bushes and waited for them to leave, watching Ron and his friends to make sure they went back to the castle..... They have a bad habit of breaking the rules.
"Harry, do you realize what tree this is?" Hermione asked, looking at Ron as he sat on the ground in front of the whomping willow
Harry looked at his friend before yelling to him.
"That's not good..... RON RUN!"
Ron looked up at his friends, a look of absolute terror crossing his face before raising his arm and pointing behind his friends.
"Harry, Hermione, the Grim"
I moved my eyes in the direction he was pointing, seeing a black shaggy dog standing behind them.
"Shit" I whispered under my breath, I knew who it was but the question I had to ask myself at the moment was if I wanted to give my hiding position away and answer a bunch of questions from 3 Third Years after I saved their asses.
I didn't have much time to wait however as the dog lunged straight at Ron, dragging him backwards by his leg into the tunnel.
Harry and Hermione tried desperately to save their friend, going as far as to fight with the whomping willow to do so, and eventually wound up in the tunnel themselves due to Hermione literally throwing Harry and herself into it from a swinging branch of the tree.
I pulled out my wand, quickly followed by someone grabbing my shoulder and pulling me backwards.
When I looked up, my dad was standing there motioning for me to be quite as he walked towards the tree himself.
After waiting for what felt like forever, I decided to follow them, walking up and pushing the knot on the tree before walking down the long tunnel and into the shrieking shack.
As I slowly made my way up the stairs, being as quiet as I could as to not be noticed, I could hear yelling.
"Hermione, you really are the brightest witch of your age." My dad stated, and while he wasn't wrong I wondered why he felt the need to say that.
