When Charlie came jogging up to us I was already on the verge of crying, I was trying my hardest to stay professional in this situation but Percy was making it extremely difficult.
"What's going on? Why are we in the forest screaming while surrounded by dragons? It's probably not the best idea if we're being honest." Charlie was trying his best to be a mediator without having any sort of idea what was going on, and while I appreciated the gesture it wasn't helping.
Percy was now glaring daggers at his brother, making it abundantly clear that he wasn't pleased.
"I just want to do my job" My plea was more aimed towards Percy than anyone else.
The tone of my voice, accompanied by the fact my voice had now started cracking in my failing attempt to not start crying seemed to get Percy's attention.
When he looked at me, he looked like he felt horrible for his comment about my clothes but he still didn't like our current situation or our surroundings.
While Percy still looked infuriated with his brother, Charlie now looked amused.
"And what might your job be?" Charlie asked
"I'm the personal assistant to the Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, I was sent here to help with the dragons."
"That's convenient, I've been waiting for someone from the Ministry to show up, we're lucky they haven't started eating people yet."
"What do you need and how much?" While this question came out ruder than I'd intended I wasn't angry at Charlie, I was growing increasingly irritated with Percy as he was now standing behind us with balled up fists and his jaw clenched.
We walked away from Percy, heading towards the dragons, with Charlie telling me everything I needed to know about them and what they needed.
There were 4 different species:
- Hungarian Horntail
- Swedish Short-Snout
- Common Welsh Green
- Chinese FireballHe then moved on to what they needed for food for the dragons while they were here:
- Sheep
- Cattle
- Goats
- PigsAfter writing down everything he'd said, I went to go back to the castle and tell Hagrid what they needed when I was stopped by someone grabbing my arm.
"Y/N, one more thing. What's Percy's problem? He looks like he's about to bust a vein in his forehead." Charlie asked, he seemed concerned about his brother.
"I think he's jealous" I answered, looking back at a very angry Percy
Charlie started laughing until he realized I wasn't kidding, I was completely serious.
"Why would he be jealous?"
"Percy and I have been dating for roughly the last 6 months, give or take a week or two. He's not entirely pleased with my past sexual history."
"Oh..... that explains the dirty looks in August."
"I've tried telling him that he has nothing to worry about, but he won't listen."
"He's always been set in his ways, once he gets something in his head it's hard to change his mind. I know it's probably not technically allowed, but I'd suggest sleeping wherever he is tonight, it might help."
"Thank you, I'll take that into consideration. For now I have a game keeper in need of information."
We shook hands, going our separate ways to continue doing our jobs.
