A Question For Two Dads

"Oh! I wanted to ask you to walk me down the isle" I'd been so focused on explaining why it was I was lying to Molly that I'd momentarily forgotten about why I'd locked us in the sitting room in the first place

Sirius visibly deflated in his seat on the couch, he looked crushed

"Both of you" I added, looking at Sirius

"Both of us?" They asked in unison

"Yes, both of you." I answered

"How does that work?" Sirius asked

This question I'd been prepared for, I even brought the pamphlet I'd shown Percy a few weeks prior.

Sitting down on the floor, I opened the pamphlet on the coffee table in front of him, which prompted my dad to sit down next to him and wait for my little explanation.

"Well, this is the venue...." Sirius cut me off to ask another question

"Why on earth does anyone need a wedding this extravagant?" Sirius asked

"Percy wants to invite people from the Ministry.... As I was saying, this is the venue, and this is the basic concept for the isle. I was thinking that Sirius could walk me down to the halfway point of the isle and then dad could walk me the rest of the way."

I'd come up with this little idea as to make sure no one's feelings got hurt, but after thinking about it more, it actually could represent the story of my life too.

Sirius had raised me for the beginning part of my life, when he'd gone to Azkaban my dad had raised me for the remaining 13 years of my childhood.

"What made you come up with this idea?" My dad asked

"Dora asked me a question a few weeks ago, when you two were bickering, and this is my answer to her question" I answered

"What question?"

The question I was talking about was the one where she'd asked who it was I saw as a father figure, she'd said 'You know both is an option right?' which was helpful.

"She asked who I see as a father figure, in hopes to get you two to shut up and stop fighting about it." I answered

They both looked at each other again, they seemed confused as to how this answered her question.

When I heard Harry trying to open the door I shoved the pamphlet in my purse before standing up and heading towards the door.

"I don't need an answer tonight, just think about it" I stated, unlocking the door

"Why was the door locked?" Harry asked, looking back and forth between all three of us

"No reason, don't ask questions" I replied, walking out the door and heading towards the the front door on the floor below

"You have to tell them eventually Y/N, you can't hide it from them forever." My dad hollered after me, he hates when I keep secrets from people.... Especially when he knows what's going on.

He feels like it's not his place to tell these things to the people involved, now that he knew about the situation with the wedding, I could tell he felt bad for Molly and Arthur but he thought it was between them, Percy, and I, thus making it not his place to say anything to them.

"I can damned well try!" I retorted before apparating home to my apartment

When I got home the apartment was empty, which I was thankful for, the emotional toll this entire wedding was starting to have on me was getting overwhelming.

I started crying almost as soon as I got home, running to the bathroom and locking the door behind me to try and avoid being asked questions if Percy came home before I was able to calm myself down.
