Why Is It Always Christmas?!?!?

I honestly don't know what it is about Christmas but Christmas of 1996 was yet again a disaster!

In 1994 it had been a fight about a joking comment I'd made about Percy following the rules, 1995 was the year Percy sent back the jumpers his mum made us and caused a huge fight after I'd been scolded by multiple people when I got to Grimmauld Place...... this year? Rufus was the problem!

Rufus Scrimgeour was the new Minister for Magic, and he wanted to use Percy to talk to Harry under the pretense that Percy and I were visiting for the holiday.

Rufus was the former Head of the Auror's Office, and up until he'd become Minister he'd hounded Kingsley and Dora about Sirius but after it'd become clear that Sirius was in fact innocent Rufus seemed to drop it thankfully.

I wasn't told what we were doing that day but Percy was visibly agitated from the moment he woke up.

He wouldn't eat breakfast, he seemed to not actually want to accept any sort of gifts from anyone but begrudgingly accepted the Armani cufflinks I'd gotten him to go with the suits I'd given him the year before.

I was supposed to be having my 'second Christmas', for lack of a better term, at the Burrow with the Weasley's, Bill's new Fiancé Fleur, Harry, Sirius, Dora, and my dad.

I'd tried to get everyone something, but given how distant Percy is from his family, accompanied by the fact he refuses to talk about them, I had a hard time picking things out for his parents and siblings.

After asking the other Weasley children, as well as Hermione, what they thought I should get everyone, I finally came up with a list.

Ginny had said to get Bill something practical, something he could use. I decided to go with custom cufflinks, for the first set I had the Gringotts logo put on them, it was something he could wear to work. The second I had customized for his wedding, they had his and Fleur's initials and their wedding date on them.

I got Fleur a French to English dictionary, she'd been say for years that she wanted to get better at speaking English, it was the main reason she'd applied to work at Gringotts in the first place, meeting Bill had just been a nice little addition to the job.

Fred and George tried to convince me to get Charlie an ACTUAL dragon for Christmas but I knew better, if I did that all he'd do is scold me for putting myself and his family in danger. I decided to just give Charlie 200 Galleons for him to do with whatever he saw fit, I didn't know what exactly he could use in Romania with the dragons.

I got Fred and George aging potions as a joke, as a reference to how they'd tried to override the rule at the Triwizard Tournament in an attempt to enter the competition when they were 16.

For Ron I went with a Chudley Cannons jumper, he's complained about the jumpers that Molly makes him since I've known him, I was hoping he'd like it.

I got Ginny new quidditch gear.

Arthur had to have been the hardest person I had to shop for, when I asked his children and Hermione they'd all said the same thing 'anything related to Muggles'. Then, in a passing comment, Molly had said something about him liking Muggle vehicles. I finally decided on a model car.

I went out and bought the model car kit, putting it together myself and painting it. By the time it was finished, it looked perfect, it looked exactly like the blue 1960 Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe he'd had years before.
