It took me a few minutes to get up the courage to walk out of the bathroom but I eventually managed it.
Percy was sitting on the bed rummaging through Ministry paperwork he'd brought home with him, he didn't even look up at me when I came into the room.
Once Percy's in work mode, he's in a completely different world, it's like everything going on around him is irrelevant at the moment.
"Love, we need to talk, can you put that down for a minute please?" I asked, climbing onto the bed and sitting down next to him.
"You're free to talk but I need to finish this." He replied
"Percy, this is really important, I need you to actually listen to me instead of paying attention to your paperwork."
"I'm listening, I just need to finish this."
He still hadn't looked up at me, he was too consumed with work at this point, but I decided to humor him and tell him my news, if he didn't hear me it just proved my point that he wasn't actually listening to me..... though there was one way I could be sure he'd get the message even if he didn't hear me.
I got up and went back into the bathroom, grabbing the test off the counter before coming back out and standing at the end of the bed.
"Percy, I'm pregnant" I stated, looking back down at the rest in my hands
"That's great baby, I'm happy for you" He responded, still not bothering to look up at me
He hadn't heard what I'd said, and if he had he didn't seem to comprehend the gravity of the situation at the moment.
"Love, did you hear a word I just said?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest
"Yes" he answered, still enthralled in his work
"What did I say?"
"I..... Y/N, I'm a little busy."
He finally looked up at me, being met by a very unimpressed expression on my face.
"What did I say Percy? You said you heard me. I thought it was important and you're evidently happy for me." I was honestly a little irritated about the fact he'd been ignoring me when he'd said he was listening.
"I don't know Y/N, I'm a little busy" he responded, motioning towards the paperwork scattered across our bed
"I'm sorry that me and my news are such an inconvenience for you, I'll leave you to your work until you're ready to actually listen to me."
I could feel tears pricking the corners of my eyes, and while I knew I was being dramatic and could've just repeated myself after he'd looked up, I was upset that he'd knowingly ignored me, choosing to continue doing Ministry paperwork instead.
As I walked out of the bedroom and sat down on the couch, pulling my legs up and resting my forehead on my knees, Percy got up from the bed and followed me.
"Baby, please don't be like that. I want to hear what you have to say, I just want to finish the paperwork I brought home first." He sounded frustrated but I didn't look up at him or repeat myself
"Well then go finish it, I'll still be waiting when you're done." I replied sarcastically, on the verge of tears
Now, while I realize I'd told him to go back and finish what he'd been doing, I hadn't been expecting him to actually do it! I'd been hoping he'd try and comfort me and listen to what it was I had to say but like I said earlier, he was in work mode, once in work mode it's hard to get through to him.
