Harry went back to school on September 1st, like Hogwarts students always do.
I'd known for a month that Dolores had been made the new Defense of Against the Dark Arts Professor by the Minister of Magic.
For all intents and purposes, she was a Ministry spy at the school.
The school curriculum for the subject was also being changed, now being taken over by the Ministry, they didn't want students to be able to fight against the Ministry.
Cornelius was convinced that Dumbledore was trying to take his place as Minister for Magic, and that he'd use the students at the school to get the position.
I received a letter from Harry a few days later that I couldn't help but laugh at.
He'd been very rude in his letter, at least towards Dolores, starting his letter with 'Y/N, toad face is at Hogwarts! Send help!'
He said she'd given some sort of long, drawn out speech about about how DADA was going to be limited this year, that it had been obvious to him that absolutely none of the other Professors liked her but that Dumbledore was trying to be as polite as he could be.
Apparently even Snape had rolled his eyes during this speech she'd given, and the only person to clap after she was finished was the Hogwarts caretaker Mr. Filch.
I knew the new curriculum wouldn't go over well, the Ministry was taking on a 'Defensive Magical Theory' approach.
Instead of teaching one to defend themselves against the dark arts, this new approach told them to negotiate or appease whoever it was that was trying to harm them.
The idea was atrocious in my opinion but Percy LOVED IT!
He couldn't praise Dolores enough, it was honestly starting to get old.
On September 8th he came home absolutely elated, he was over the moon that Cornelius had made Dolores the Hight Inquisitor at Hogwarts.
It meant she had more powers, she could now fire Professors, make new rules for the students to follow, enforce those rules by punishing the students as she saw fit, essentially she was the new Headmistress but with out the title.
The only things she COULDN'T do was banish people from the grounds or fire Dumbledore!
It honestly sounded horrifying!
I knew from personal experience that she couldn't be trusted.
The year before I started working for my grandfather Dolores had put forth an anti-werewolf bill, this had somehow passed through all of the needed channels and was signed into legislation by the Minister.
What the anti-werewolf legislation act does, is it makes it incredibly hard for people who suffer from lycanthropy to get decent jobs, and when they can find jobs it's significantly less than what they're qualified to do.
My dad was now living with Sirius because of this act, he hadn't been able to find a job anywhere in the wizarding world after leaving his post at Hogwarts and Muggles wouldn't hire him due to him needing to take at least one entire week off a month.
It was infuriating!
We'd also had to deal with her recently trying to start a campaign to gather up all the merpeople and tag them like cattle the same year as the tournament!
She'd said it would be easier for the Ministry to do with our Department needing to work with the Merpeople for the second task, it was downright inhumane!
When Percy came home that night praising her for her new position I couldn't help but roll my eyes, he'd been right after Harry's trial, I don't like her.... I DOWN RIGHT HATE HER!
