"Alex, my love," George hummed.
Alexandria's eyes popped open as George coaxed her from her easy sleep. "What're ye wakin' me up for, Geo? Lemme sleep s'more," Alexandria mumbled quite groggily. Her words slurred together and she squirmed around under the lush covers of George's bed before rolling away from him, taking his portion of the covers with her. She practically lived at Kinfauns, George's bungalow-style house that he had purchased a few months ago, by now. She was here just about every night, but the two hadn't made it official yet, so as of now, she still lived in a small flat in London proper. She much preferred it over here, though. The sheets were soft, the blankets were warm, and everything smelled of George. It was practically heaven on earth.
"Just wanted you to know that I'm getting ready to leave. You're still coming by the venue later, right?"
"Mhm," she replied. "I always do."
"Good, good," he said, then she felt George crawl out of bed and leave to get ready. She spent the next half-hour gently fading in and out of sleep. She'd start snoozing, then George would drop something and she'd jolt awake again. Then, the heavenly smell of coffee began to drift through the air, and George's lips were pressed against the side of her cheek. "I'll make sure the coffee stays warm for you, all right?" He whispered because he knew how much she hated being spoken loudly to this early in the morning. He knew her so well, even more so than he had when they were still sixteen years old and just exploring the romantic attraction between them.
"Thanks, Geo," Alexandria hummed, puckering her lips without opening her eyes, a sign that she wanted a kiss from George, and that was a request that he happily fulfilled.
They had a beautiful life together. There's always a sort of "honeymoon" phase in every relationship. Generally, the stage was more present in the few months after you first get together, but for George and Alexandria, it still felt like their "honeymoon" phase was just beginning. They were still more in love than ever. They'd made it through perhaps hundreds of arguments in the past four—almost five—years, and they always just seemed to grow stronger through them. That was what made a relationship like theirs stronger—disagreements. They'd fought a lot in their first few months of dating; it was hard for them to adjust to such a big change, and there had been plenty of times where they wondered if it was even worth it. They had somehow always powered through it, though, and they were the definition of childhood sweethearts.
Their faces had been printed together in hundreds of magazines since the Beatles became famous and so many girls sent Alexandria letters, letters that told her that someday George would grow bored of her. She tried not to take the letters seriously—she knew that these girls hadn't a clue about anything regarding her relationship with George—but sometimes, it was hard. Whenever they'd fight, she'd spend the night in her own flat, worrying about what he was out doing to cope with their shouting. She worried that he found consolation in the arms of other women. She wanted to believe that he had never once cheated on her....but she knew what the other boys got up to.
