TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1965
George's car rolled to a stop in the driveway of Kenwood and he pulled the key from the ignition. He readjusted his sunglasses and stepped out of the car, the Weybridge air warm and inviting around him. He was paying a rather unplanned visit to John's today, but not because he was interested in John. No, today, he was on the hunt for Cynthia. Alexandria and Kathleen were on the way home today, and so he was running out of time to get his last-minute proposal preparing done. The last thing he had to do that was planned was get a ring. He pretty much had the entire affair planned...he just didn't have the damned ring. In all honesty, he had been so caught up in planning everything else that he had forgotten about the ring entirely, so that left him rushing to find one.
Unfortunately for him, tough, he had no clue what in the hell he was supposed to be looking for when he went shopping for a ring. He didn't know what was chic and what was just downright tacky, so he decided to employee one of the boys' wives to help him. Since Jane was on holiday with Paul and Maureen refrained from leaving the house due to her pregnancy, that left only Cynthia to help George. He wasn't sure how this was going to go over with John, though. He wasn't entirely sure how supportive John would be of George taking his wife out for the day, so he didn't even know if his plans for today would pan out anyway.
George tucked his hands in his pockets as he walked up John's walkway and landed in front of John's front door. After a moment, he knocked. Then, he waited patiently for his knock to be answered.
"George?" John cocked an eyebrow as he stared out at the younger boy on his doorstep.
"Hey, John. Lovely weather we're havin', huh?" George looked around.
"What're you doin' here, George?" John asked, moving aside to let George in.
George stepped into the house, removing his sunglasses from his eyes. He looked around at the entrance hall. There was a gorilla suit. A gorilla suit and a suit of armor. Only in John Lennon's bloody house would you find a gorilla suit and a full suit of armor. "Where's Cyn?" George asked.
John cocked an eyebrow. "Tending to Julian," he replied. "Why?"
"Well, she is who I'm here to see." George shrugged as if it were totally normal for him to be lurking around Kenwood in search of John's wife.
It wasn't normal, though, and John's eyebrows immediately furrowed with suspicion. "Funny," John said flatly. "What is it that you're really here for?"
George frowned. "No, I'm really here to see Cyn," he replied.
John rolled his eyes. "All right, I'll play along, then." He crossed his arms. "Why?"
"Well, as you know, I've made the decision to marry Alex, if she says yes, and to do that I need a ring. I am not a girl, Kathleen is with Alex in America right now, Jane is on holiday with Paul, and Mo barely wants to leave the house. That leaves only one more option for me. That only other option...is Cyn."
