SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 1965

"Are you sure that this is...are you sure that this is okay, Alex?" Kathleen asked, her hands clutched around the armrests on either side of her airplane seat. Her eyes darted from side to side, looking for any and all excuse to get off of this godforsaken plane.

Alexandria buckled her seatbelt and looked around, trying to pretend that she was calm when in reality she was a nervous wreck. She always was when she got onto planes. And this time, she didn't even have George to help her through the flight.

"Well, there's no turning back now, is there? They won't let us off the plane now that we're about to take off," Alexandria replied.

"They won't? What if the damned thing goes up in flames?" Kathleen demanded. "Then, will they let us off?"

"Christ, Kath, you act like you've never been on a plane before. I know you have."

"Sure, I have," Kathleen said. "Twice."

Alexandria rolled her eyes. "It's all right, Kath. It's only...eleven hours."

Kathleen's face paled. "Eleven hours?" she hissed.

"Goes by a lot faster than you'd think," Alexandria said quickly. "Especially when you get a drink in your hands. Trust me."

"I can't believe George just paid for this, just for us."

"Yeah, I can't either," Alexandria replied with a deep sigh. A stewardess at the front of the plane began to go on a rant about emergency procedures and rules, but Alexandria tuned most of it out, as she often did. When the woman left, she turned to Kathleen. "You have to admit, though," Alexandria said. "You are pretty excited about this."

"Of course, I'm excited about it. I haven't been away from Wes in ages. I'm long overdue for a vacation." Kathleen put on a grin and leaned back in her seat. "I can lamest feel the sun on my skin already."

Then, the plane began to move and both of the girls' eyes widened. They gripped their armrests. "Hell, I don't like this part though," Alexandria admitted.

Kathleen nodded in agreement. "I don't either. When do we get to order those drinks?"

San Francisco was buzzing with people. People who lived there were trying to get to and from work, dodging excited tourists as they obsessed over the scenery and tried like hell to snap a few photos. Alexandria's eyes were covered by a pair of dark sunglasses, and her head was a bit foggy. She and Kathleen had had a drink at the start of their flight, but then they slept through most of it. Now, they were wide awake and very curious. Luckily for them, there was a seven-hour time difference between here and London, and since they'd left just after eight in the morning, that put them at about noon here.
