THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 1965
Alexandria felt the sun beating down against her skin. She wore a pair of high-waisted, black shorts, and a dark green t-shirt. A pair of dark sunglasses were perched on her nose.
She and George worked in the garden, on opposite sides, yet still enjoying each other's company. A transistor radio sat on the ground behind them and the music was just loud enough to be heard between the two of them. Now that the weather was warming up again, they figured it was time to start fixing up their garden. For the past few days, they had been entirely focused on pulling all of the weeds up from the ground, and they had plans to go within the next few days and purchase some plants to put in the ground.
Once Alexandria finished with her section of the garden, she stood up, dusting her legs off. George turned to her, watching her. After a few seconds, she spotted him staring and raised her eyebrows, placing her hands on her hips. "What're you starin' at?" she asked.
George jumped in surprise, and his eyes dragged across her body. "You," he responded before standing up and going toward her. "Where are you going?" he asked, placing his hands on her hips.
"Just to get some water," Alexandria replied. "Why's it so important to you?"
George shrugged. "Was hopin' you'd give me a compelling reason to go inside for a few minutes. It's hot out here."
"Well, I'd say avoiding dehydration is a good reason to go inside for a few minutes, wouldn't you?"
George nodded, smiling down at her dopily. He fell silent as he stared at her for a few moments. And to ruin the moment and piss him off, Alexandria shoved him in the chest. "Stop starin' with yer mouth open like that. You may start drooling, George."
George rolled his eyes and dropped his hands from her waist. "Fine, let's go get some water," he said.
Alexandria wasn't pleased with him taking his hands off of her, so she reached down and took his hand into hers, guiding him around the pool and toward the back door. "Can't wait 'til we start swimming again," George said. "I've always adored seein' you in a swimsuit."
Alexandria turned to scowl at him and spotted him staring back with a smirk. "Pervert," she said. "That's what you are."
George rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Should be pretty self-explanatory. Ye look gorgeous whenever you're barely covered up."
Alexandria blushed as they stepped back into Kinfauns. The house wasn't much cooler than it had been outside; all of the doors and windows were open, so the air conditioning unit was turned off and sunlight heated up the interior of the house through the open windows. "Yeah, I'm sure you think so," she responded. "Besides, not sure if I'll wear those this year...I've got a bit of scarring, from the laparoscopy." She avoided eye contact by looking down at the floor, and her face continued to turn redder as she descended more into the realm of embarrassment.
