28: Woes and Worries
"Your thoughts could be spoken,
but your qualms could also be heard."
It was difficult for me to understand why Dean has to do that. The robbing incident still has no suspect and luckily, I was wrong. Nothing from my belongings were found on his body. I suspect he was always following me around, that's why he knew where I live. And when I finally caught him, he ran away. But why? Out of fear?
It has been a week since his accident but he has not regained his consciousness yet. I felt totally guilt for running after him that maybe added fire to his burning heart. Now, I'm afraid not only of his life but also of mine.
Siyempre. Kasi nando'n ako.
I'm scared of what Pamela can do to me. Nella even warned me. What more ngayong nalaman ko ang ugnayan nilang dalawa.
I'm really screwed.
Madness, meanwhile, woke up four days ago. He said that he only wants me.
"N-Nandito ka," he affirmed. I was immediately alerted when his burning hand slightly touched my forehead laying on the side of his bed. My gaze met his ill expression as I put the back of my hand against his neck.
"Tatawag ako ng nurse. Sinisinat ka."
"Come back, 'kay? Be quick."
When I returned, I looked at him and said, "Happy?"
He nodded gently while the nurse attends to him and checks his vital signs. She later asked him if he is feeling chills on his body and if he is hungry. He said 'yes' to both questions.
Babalik po ako dito with the medicines the doctor precribed for him, so puwede na siyang pakainin bago niya inumin ang mga gamot."
"Salamat po," sagot ko.
"Siya nga pala," pahabol nito. "Bibisitahin siya ni Doc mamaya. I think he has something to say to Mr. Riodel."
Boys will be boys. "May gusto ka bang kainin?" tanong ko.
"Ikaw."
"Seryoso."
He could only give a small laugh. "I mean, ikaw? What do you want?"
Napalunok ako ng laway. Okay, that was e-embarassing. "Sabi mo 'yan, a.
His smiles even grew wider while his eyes are stuck on mine. Naupo ako sa bakanteng upuan. "Why? What's wrong with smiling? I'm just happy."
"Masaya ka na hindi ka pa magaling? You're really something."
"I'm happy because you're here."
"No, you are happy because you get to make fun of your situation. Madness, ilang araw kang tulog. And I don't know how to help you when you had a seizure that day.
