Rain

I still didn't really know what to do but the thought of hunting for Jeff again was playing on my mind. The little girl Pikachu and I had 'found' was called Millie. I don't know what was so fascinating about her, she just seemed different somehow. We walked to the pasta mansion and she held my hand, to my surprise, she was unusually trusting towards me, a total stranger who had killed her family. Millie looked up at me with her sparkling blue eyes, she was so young, six actually. 'You're pretty,' she said, 'I want to be like you.' I winced at the memories that came flooding back and I lightly touched the faded scar on my cheek where Jeff had tried, unsuccessfully, to cut a smile like his into my face. A dull ache replaced the hatred in my chest. I knew that no matter what I'd miss him and I'd never be able to bring myself to hurt him in any way. A single tear slid down my cheek. 'Pika?' Pikachu asked sadly, wanting to know what was wrong. I quickly wiped the tear away and sniffled, 'I'm fine.' Nobody was convinced though, not even myself. We were almost at the mansion when the Rake showed up. He looked less menacing than the first time I'd encountered him however Millie wasn't so fond of him. She screamed and hid behind me, burying her face in my long black hair. Rake sniffed at her and looked at me questioningly. 'What? She's so cute, and look how well she gets on with Pikachu,' I said. The Rake just growled in response and as he did, Millie began to cry. I rolled my eyes, annoyed. 'Now look what you've done.' I picked Millie up and hugged her. 'It's okay, he's only like the grouchy uncle, he isn't that bad.' She just carried on crying and as she did, thick dark clouds gathered in the sky. 'I don't like him,' she wailed and more tears streamed down her cheeks. At that moment, the overhanging clouds erupted with rain and we were all soon drenched in rainwater so Millie's crying continued. By now, the Rake had scurried off to hide from the heavy drops of water soaking everything in sight. 'I suppose we'd better get out of this rain.' The three of us headed for the house and I went in through the front door right into the kitchen where another guy was sat down eating cheesecake. He put his fork down and swallowed a mouthful of cheesecake. 'SALLY!' he yelled. I then realized that this was actually the first time I had been in the actual mansion and I suddenly lost some of my confidence. I didn't have a clue who to speak to or where I should look to find them. Millie had calmed down a bit and the rain too was beginning to slow. From another door emerged a very tall faceless man dressed in a smart black suit. 'Oh my god,' I whispered to myself. That was Slenderman. 'Well who do we have here?' his deep voice boomed curiously, 'Jane? I never thought you'd show up willingly, considering you were too busy chasing your ex.' He was lucky he was so tall and faceless, otherwise his snide comment would've made me rip his face right off. I heard the sound of someone running and I looked towards the set of wide carpeted stairs to see Sally descending them excitedly. 'You are always finding new people aren't you?' she asked. I just shrugged. Slenderman sauntered over, which looked hard to do considering his height, and examined Millie, who cringed away from him. 'Unusual,' he said, 'A pasta with natural, unprovoked talents.'

'What are you talking about?' I asked, getting more and more frustrated just listening to his voice. 'Can't you feel the energy radiating from her?' he questioned. I looked at her. To me she seemed like a normal six year old, bright blue eyes framed with light eyelashes and blonde hair, so light that it actually could be white. 'You don't know do you?' he asked, amused. 'I'm sure a six year old doesn't have any secrets,' I retorted but then, proving me wrong, Millie whispered to me, 'I can make it rain.' I just looked at her in awe while Slenderman slunk back into his little room with a chuckle. I really didn't like him. 'Wait... So...' I glanced outside the window, the rain clouds had disappeared and the sun was shining down on the ground once again. 'That was you?' I asked her. She just nodded and began to bite her nails. She sat on a chair and asked worriedly, 'I'm not in trouble am I?'

'Why would you be in trouble?' Her blue eyes filled up with tears again and the sky darkened noticeably. 'They called me a freak and said more mean things to me,' she rolled up the sleeves of her butterfly pyjamas and in some areas on her arms were cigarette burns and my heart ached for her. What type of person could do that to their own child? Back in the house they seemed like normal enough, loving parents. I guess that's why you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. I stopped to think for a while. I had abandoned my own family to go and find my boyfriend who I now wanted dead. I was in no position to judge anyone. I didn't know what to say to her so the only thing I could think of to make her feel better was, 'Well this can be your new home.' Nobody objected and she was clearly a pasta and belonged here. A smile immediately broke out across her face. Sally skipped over to her and helped cheer her up more by saying, 'We can be best friends and play games together, as long as Charlie doesn't mind of course. Do you have a teddy bear? If you want we can find you one on a hunt. You can choose your own room, the room next to mine is empty if you want to stay there.' Millie nodded excitedly and her innocent blue eyes sparkled with happiness. The two girls excitedly rushed upstairs to choose a room for Millie. I was happy that she liked it here. After they had left, there was only me, Pikachu and the guy in the mask left in the kitchen. He walked over and held his hand out for me to shake, 'Formal,' I giggled. He laughed too. 'Hey, I'm Masky, welcome to the madhouse,' he said. I think he was smiling under his white mask. 'Well this here is Pikachu, kinda, ish,' I said, gesturing to my shoulder where Pikachu was happily perched, '-and I'm-'

'Jane, I know,' he said. 'I've heard all about you. I was really hoping you'd show up at some point. Everyone has been wanting to meet you and Jeff.' Was it just me or did his voice darken as he said Jeff's name? I shrugged it off, probably not. 'Anyway,' he carried on, 'Wanna come and pick a room. Well actually,' he stopped shyly, 'I might have already decorated a room for you. But I really think you'll like it.' I smiled, how sweet of him, 'Sure.' He seemed happy enough with my smile response and he swung his arm over my shoulders and guided me up two flights of stairs. The first floor was just a plain corridor with brown floor boards and peeling red wallpaper. I noticed that in some places the wallpaper was stained with a suspicious darker red colour. The second floor was just the same. Masky led me right to the very end of the corridor where there was a tall window reaching the ceiling where you had a view of the whole forest. He took his arm off my shoulder and pointed to a simple brown door. 'This is actually my room here, the room opposite is yours,' he explained, 'I think you'll like it, I mean, I hope you'll like it.' He didn't really know what to say after that and just stared at the floor nervously while playing with his hands. He actually looked really cute and I was fairly sure that if he wasn't wearing his mask he'd be blushing. 'I'm sure I'll like it either way,' I said reassuringly. I probably wouldn't. I was really picky about how I had my bedroom in the past but it was kind of him. He stopped fidgeting and opened the door for me. I walked in and gasped. It was one of the most nicely decorated rooms I had ever seen. Thick black curtains, which blended nicely with the black walls, hung over the window and below that was a set of drawers. In the centre of the room was a double bed which was under a glittering black chandelier. Closer to the door was a large set of wardrobes and the front of them had mirrors on. Everything was black and red, my two favourite colours. 'I got you some clothes too, I just thought-' I cut him off by giving him a huge hug. 'It's amazing, thank you.' He seemed a little shocked at first but soon hugged me back. 'I had better introduce you to the others then,' he said. We went back downstairs and he briefly went over some of the things here in the mansion and then he showed me the basement. 'This is basically where most of us hang out besides our rooms when we aren't hunting,' he explained. The room was well lit by rainbow coloured lights and there were bean bags and overstuffed chairs taking up most of the space in the room. There was an enormous TV mounted on the wall and a blonde haired guy wearing green clothes was playing a PS4 game against some brown haired girl. The guy turned around, he looked vaguely familiar somehow. He paused the game, 'Clockwork, look, Jane's here.'

'Oh,' she said, turning to face me. Okay, she was the coolest looking person I had ever seen. She had one piercing emerald green eye and where her other eye should have been there was a silver clock. She had a chelsea smile similar to Jeff's but hers was more faint, stitched up and it didn't reach the corners of her mouth. 'You're so cool,' I said lamely. She laughed, 'Actually I'm Clockwork and that over there is Ben,' she said nodding towards the guy sat next to him. Of course. I knew this guy. He was from the cursed Majora's Mask game. I grinned, 'Hey.' Pikachu, who I'd almost forgotten about, bounced off my shoulder and ran straight to Ben, inspecting him. Pikachu immediately decided he liked Ben and Ben clearly liked Pikachu. I suppose it made sense as they both had something in common. They were both characters out of video games. Clockwork looked at me and Masky holding up two extra PS4 controllers. 'Wanna join?' she asked. I happily accepted the offer, along with Masky and we joined them on the floor. See being insane wasn't all bad.
