Jane's P.O.V

I sat watching the news, absolutely heartbroken. Jeff, the guy I loved, had killed five doctors, two nurses, three guys from our school and completely disappeared in one night. No, that couldn't just be it, he can't have gone. I knew he was growing depressed but this, this was not Jeff. Then I realized, of course it wasn't Jeff, this was Jeff the Killer. The news reports say he is 'highly dangerous' and 'you must run and hide if you see him.' This wasn't fair. I was going to find him, I needed him. I sighed, the news changed to their next topic. I would be late to school if I didn't leave now. Getting up and grabbing my 'drop dead' bag I left. 'BYE MUM, BYE DAD!' I yelled. Not five minutes down the road, I got a text, it was Alec asking where I was. His house was only about five minutes away from here and I was too lazy to reply. The wind blew my blonde hair into a crazy frenzy, my hair was always messy and most of the time I couldn't care less. I got to Alec's house and he was stood outside, arms folded. 'What?' I asked innocently. 'Hear about Jeff?' he asked. We started walking, I nodded in reply silently. 'I'm so sorry,' he said lowering his head, 'For what,' I asked surprised. 'For Jeff, I know you love him, I see it in your eyes.' Well, they do say eyes are the windows to the soul. We just walked to school in silence. All day at school was quiet in general. Some people gave me looks of sympathy, some disgust and some fear. It was awful, Jeff wasn't really that popular but his drastic 'change' had startled everyone. Alec had to go to pick his little brother up at the end of school which left me the walk back home on my own. I decided to go the long way, down the woods. They weren't just any old woods they were special to me and Jeff.

Jane's flashback.

'Mum!' I yelled again, frustrated. I was lost, I sat in the mud dirtying my favorite dress and cried. 'Hello?' said a boys voice, I looked up and opposite me sat a boy about my age, I think. About seven or eight. 'Are you okay?' he asked me, he was concerned. 'I'm lost,' I sniffled, 'I want to go home.'

'I know where you live, you live on my street down you? You moved in yesterday didn't you?' I nodded and giggled. He was silly. He stood up and held out his hand, 'I'm Jeff,' he said helping me up. 'I'm Jane,' I told him. 'Come on, I'll help you get home.' he told me, holding my hand the whole way.

My flashback ended as I passed the path he used to help me get out of the woods. I smiled to myself, the day after he showed me around the whole of the woods. It was really sweet of him. I walked past a tree with J&J carved into it surrounded by a heart.

'Hey look what Dad bought me, for my 14th birthday!' he said excitedly, pulling a penknife out of his back pocket.' My eyes widened, 'Jeff,' I scolded, 'Put that away!'

'Calm down,' said, 'Look.' He carved our initials into the tree surrounded by a heart. 'Now everyone's gonna know we're best friends.'

'Aww,' I said giving him a hug.

I missed the old days, when everything was so simple. I missed Jeff. I saw a larger tree than the rest and another good memory came back.

'Oh my god. What if I fall and die? I haven't even had my prom. I refuse to die before my prom.' Wrapping his arm around my waist Jeff said, 'You're not going to die, I've got you.' He kissed my cheek, I turned my head and I kissed him on the lips. The branch was wide enough for me to lay on my back and we may or may not have made out. He still never let go of me though.

Snapping back out of my little moment of nostalgia, I slammed face first into someone's chest making me fall on my butt. 'Hey-' I started. The guy I'd walked into was him, Jeff. He leaned over me and crouched down, holding a knife covered in dry blood to my throat. 'Aw Janie,' he said, his voice sounded rusty, like a sore throat, or Batman. I mentally scolded myself, now was not the time to be thinking about Batman. Jeff dug the knife into my neck, not enough to kill me but enough to draw blood. 'I love you Jane, do you love me?' Stuttering I said,' I..I l-love yo..uu.'

'LIAR!' he shouted at me pulling his knife back. Tears mixed with blood startd to run down his cheeks, even in this state I hated to see him cry. I stood up, 'Jeff...' I reached out to touch his arm. He was a monster but I loved him dearly and nothing could ever change that. 'DON'T TOUCH ME!' With that he ran into the woods. I was totally shook up and miserable. Mum and Dad were at work when I got home, so I sat in the pitch black in my room chanting, don't go to sleep, until I finally went to sleep.
