Finding the motivation to get up out of bed was very hard. I was still feeling a little jumpy after my 'encounter' with Hoodie. Because I was nervous and was half expecting Hoodie to climb in through my window to get revenge Masky had slept in my bed with me. Yup, I was becoming that paranoid. I yawned and tried to comb my hair a little with my hands. 'Your yawn is cute,' Masky said. I blushed and turned away so he wouldn't see. 'No it isn't,' I argued stubbornly. He reached over and tickled me so I squealed and tried to move away which just resulted in me rolling on to the floor. My shoulder crashed into the wood of the floor and I cried out in pain rubbing it and feeling sorry for myself. 'Ouch,' I said standing up and examining the bruise which was already beginning to form on my shoulder. 'Sorry,' Masky said getting out of bed and revealing his toned abs. I tried not to stare, I didn't want a repeat of the last time me and Masky had a conversation about his abs. I turned around and quickly got changed from my baggy shirt to my favourite black dress with a pearl necklace. I did a silly pose, 'How do I look?'
'Beautiful as always.' I smiled at him happily. I wished he would keep his mask off. I loved his beautiful face. I didn't care if he was covered in scars. I wanted to see his smile and watch it light up his sad eyes. It broke my heart to see the sorrow in Masky's eyes that night, the night he revealed his biggest secret. His own face. I did feel though like something was missing. Assuming he was my boyfriend that is. It was almost like we were just a perfect, expected couple. It didn't feel like there was any spark to it but then again, I suppose it's like all the fairytales say, you fall in love slowly then all at once. 'Let's go downstairs,' I said, still smiling from his compliment. He pulled a white shirt on which just barely outlined his muscles and we both went downstairs.
In the basement, which was practically the living room, most of the people in the mansion were all sat down and Clockwork was stood in front of the large TV. I noticed how the TV had been paused in the middle of a game which looked annoyingly like the one I had been dragged through. 'Okay,' Clockwork said clapping her hands together with authority, 'As we have gathered a good sum of money for ourselves and a car, I thought that maybe as a treat we could go shopping!' she said. Some pastas and proxies grumbled and left the room, obviously expecting something a little more interesting. The remaining people in the room were Clockwork, Masky, Rain, Toby, Cherry and myself. Ben was here too but the bored expression on his face showed that he was only waiting here so he could carry on with his game after. 'I love going shopping,' Rain giggled, 'I used to go with Mommy and big sister. A sudden nostalgic look crossed her face and her eyes brimmed with tears. 'No, no sweetie, don't cry,' Cherry said as she wrapped the tearful child into a hug. Clockwork gave Rain a piteous glance and carried on. 'I'm guessing that as you all stayed, you want to come?' The five of us more or less all nodded and she continued, 'Okay then, you all have twenty minutes to disguise yourself and then I want you to meet me outside. We can get in our new shiny cool car and go to the closest shopping centre we find. Oh and we're staying in pairs and don't forget your money.' Clockwork was almost like the mother of the mansion. She was very organised and wanted the best for everyone, I think. I assumed that me and Masky would be pairing up and everybody, including me and Masky, went upstairs to 'disguise ourselves.' I was guessing that Cherry and Rain wouldn't need to disguise themselves at all. Clockwork would probably wear thick black sunglasses like she wore when we went out to Cherry's and I only had to put makeup on to disguise the scar on my face. Toby and Masky however would struggle. I stayed in my dress and just put a thick layer of very pale foundation on so I didn't look like a bottle of fake tan had exploded on my face, pocketed my money and headed outside. Whoever said girls took ages to get ready were clearly wrong, I thought to myself with a silent giggle. Cherry, Clockwork and Rain were all waiting by the mossy green Range Rover but Masky and Toby were nowhere to be seen. It was sort of weird to me to know Jeff was around but not to actually be around him. I had spent so long searching for him and no I didn't know how I felt being around him and how I felt about choosing to be away from him but I tried not to dwell on it. If I did I knew I would slip into unwanted memories about him and my past life and I didn't want that now I was just about stable in my new life. Just about. Toby finally came down and though he still had the mask over his mouth he had put some sort of costume on that made him look like a futuristic space soldier out of a game. As he walked to us we were all clearly weighing his outfit up. He shrugged and simply said, 'Cosplay.' Fair play, it  was a pretty smart idea. Now we were just waiting for Masky. When he didn't show up, Clockwork began to get restless. 'We won't have much time.' I knew she was exaggerating by a lot but I wasn't prepared to get into an argument about how much time we had with a girl who had a clock for an eye.
After what felt like a decade of Clockwork informing us how late it was getting -it wasn't- Masky finally made his way outside. Everyone watched him in stunned silence. He wasn't wearing a mask, it was just his face, or that's what it looked like if you didn't know what his real face looked like. 'It's a silicone mask,' he said curtly before anyone asked him and everyone immediately knew not to question him. We all piled into the car and Clockwork drove us. I watched out of the windows with fascination though my view wasn't very good as Rain had her face squished right against the glass, her small voice counting the cars that we sped past. I kept glancing at Masky out of the corner of my eye. He was sat bolt upright and his hands were balled into fists. I rested my hand gently on his own and smiled at him reassuringly and I felt him relax a little. After a long drive, Clockwork pulled into a huge car park and we all cheered. 'I want you all back here by six, no later or we are leaving without you,' she said sternly but I knew deep down that she wouldn't leave anyone behind. All the pairs set off in different directions. I intertwined my fingers with Masky's and we both entered the shopping centre. I didn't think that anyone would notice anything strange about us because the people here seemed more interested in trying to get where they wanted to go than the other people around them. 'What first?' I asked. 'Cinema?' suggested Masky. I agreed. We had six hours here so why not? We decided to watch the new Poltergeist and it was really good. We didn't find it scary but me and Masky couldn't help but try not to laugh at the people who got scared at any jump scares. After the film, we both strolled to the food court, hand in hand. We had just missed lunch so it wasn't as busy as it would have been if we had eaten as soon as we arrived. I found a table and Masky went off and bought McDonald's. Yes I had a happy meal and yes I kept the toy. As I ate I chatted happily with Masky. We told each other embarrassing stories, talked about the film and told each other pet peeves. As I was talking to him, I noticed that his eyes were still the same icey blue they were that night. They were almost intimidating and felt as if they could pierce into your soul. If I didn't know any better, I would be scared of him. Once we ate our food, we went clothes shopping and to my excitement, Masky enjoyed clothes shopping. We both bought new clothes from various shops and finally ended up in Primark. 'Okay. I need pyjamas. Where are the pyjamas? I. Need. The. Pyjamas.' Masky just blinked and stared blankly at me and I frantically began to search for the nightwear section. Masky followed me dumbly. I loved the pyjamas from Primark. They were just so soft and perfect and soft. I walked around the aisles and picked up three sets of pyjamas. Donald Duck ones, (I might be an insane killer but I can still like Disney) a pair covered in multicoloured hearts and blue shorts with a blue top which was covered in tiny anchors. I took them to the tills and paid. We exited the shop and Masky took a glance at one of the large clocks hanging down from the ceiling. 'We should be getting back,' Masky said. I agreed, though I was certain that Clockwork wouldn't just abandon us here, I was not taking any chances. Once we had come back out of the main doors, Masky pulled me close to him. It was so unnatural to be seeing him without his mask, even if it was still a silicone mask over his face. He leaned in closer and his breath tickled my ear. 'Here's to a semi-normal day,' he chuckled. Butterflies danced in my stomach as he kissed me softly. He pulled back and I gazed into his pale blue eyes. The sadness which had been there had been replaced with something else, something warm and happy. I was glad.
We were all worn out on our long ride back, even Clockwork had lost her usual energy. Spending most of the day with humans was hard work. I personally don't know how they did it every day. We all dragged our shopping up to our rooms, Rain had bought Sally a dress which I thought was adorable, and more or less went to sleep. I changed into my Donald Duck pyjamas and shuffled tiredly into Masky's room. He was just finishing unpacking the clothes he had bought and his usual mask was once again over his face. I didn't even speak, I walked over and gave him a very long hug. 'Wanna watch a film?' he asked. Watching two films in one day was a rarity that I had not had time for these past months. 'Of course.'
Cuddled up on a cushiony sofa, me and Masky had just relaxed as our film began. We had chosen the film V for Vendetta. I loved that film so much. It got me so emotional every time I watched it, especially at the end. The film seemed to start and end very quickly and at the end I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier and just as I was about to drift off into unconsciousness I heard Masky whisper, 'Goodnight princess.'
