Chapter 6: Halloween Party

Danni

 After several days of debating whether or not I should go to this party, I decided to go. I know I'll be safe there so why not.

 Amina and I talked on the phone yesterday and I made her promise me that she'd never leave my side and that we brought our own drinks.

 Since she can't drive yet, I'm headed to her house to get ready.

 She's younger than me by a month but we're in the same grade and we go to the same school. We're just on different academic levels so we have different classes but we do have lunch together so that's a plus.

Ami 🧡🍑: see u in a few 🚨

 I decided to just go with black ripped jeans and an oversized blue tee shirt. I also curled my hair and put it in a low ponytail with a few strands framing the front of my face.

 "Are you ready?" Amina asks.

 "Yeah, kinda nervous though."

 "Don't be. We'll be glued at the hip tonight and I won't let anything happen to you. And you have the key to Callum's room if you want to escape."

 "You're right. I can do this."

 "Yes, you can."

 Thirty minutes into the party, I'm actually having a decent time. Amina has stuck to her word and has not left my side but she seems to be having fun even without letting loose. I keep telling her if she wants to leave me I would just go lock myself in Callum's room but she said she was fine.

 I have yet to see Callum tonight but I'll find him eventually.

 "You don't do parties, huh?" A voice breaks me free of my thoughts.

 I look over and see Zak.

 "What're you doing here?" I ask.

 "I'm partying. Why are you here?"

 "It's Callum's party."

 "Wait, your best friend is Callum? Callum Lord?"

 "Yes."

 "The one who goes to Stonewall?"

 "Yes."

 Amina clears her throat from beside me.

 "Who is this?" She asks wearily.

 "Amina, Zak. Zak, Amina." I introduce them to each other.

 "How do you know my cousin?" She asks him.

 "She's my tutor." He answers

 "Oh... so you're the idiot?" She raises an eyebrow.

 "You told her I was an idiot?" He turns his head towards me.

 "No, I told her you had one A and she makes assumptions about you based on your grades."

 "Having one A is basically the equivalent of being an idiot." She defends herself.

 "Amina." I scold.

 "What? It's true." I give her a flat look.

 "Hey! Glad you could make it Danni!" Callum says and gives me a hug.

 "Hey! Yeah, I took you up on your offer. I missed you." I hug him back.

 "I missed you too." He replies.
