The first couple of days in the safe house were tense and uncomfortable. Dream spent a majority of his time locked away behind closed doors, and Sapnap didn't bother checking on him. He ventured out for food, but Sapnap knew it was in everyone's best interest if they gave him as much space as they could.

As if he didn't already have enough to worry about with Dream and George being in the same house together, Sapnap still had Technoblade to think about.

When Technoblade found out about Schlatt's death and Dream's escape, he went on a rampage trying to find them. He had his men scouring every part of the city he could reach, only to return empty handed.

The rest of the team had moved to a safer location within the city, taking Tina, Corpse, Emma, and Punz with them. Tommy and Tubbo had stayed at the mansion so as not raise suspicions, biding their time while they fed information back to George and Sapnap. Sam had advised that they simply wait until some of the heat died down, and then they'd come up with their next plan of action.

And so that left Sapnap stuck at the safe house, trying his best to keep to himself. It felt like walking on eggshells, and he could tell George was also feeling the stress of the situation.

They were in the kitchen together one morning, eating at a small wooden table and quietly discussing the fact that neither of them had really seen Dream for the past couple of days. It wasn't completely unusual given the circumstances, but Sapnap still held out hope that things would change for the better. He missed his best friend, and with everything that was going on, he could use him now more than ever.

And he was also worried because he could tell that George was quickly growing restless about the whole situation. Sapnap could empathize, but he didn't want George doing anything brash out of pure boredom.

George was in the middle of quietly muttering something when Dream walked into the kitchen. Both Sapnap and George's eyes snapped up towards him immediately, and they both fell quiet as Dream strode into the room.

Sapnap wasn't used to seeing Dream dressed so casually, in a pair of dark grey sweatpants and a white shirt. His hair was pushed back from his face, and he was sure that it was driving Dream insane; he almost never let his hair get as long as it currently was.

Dream barely even looked in their direction despite the fact that they were both watching him so intently, but as he pulled open the fridge, he asked, "what are you talking about?"

"Nothing," Sapnap responded quickly. There was no way he was admitting to the fact that they were constantly discussing Dream and how concerned they were about his behavior.

He kept his eyes on Dream, watching as he poured himself a glass of orange juice and then set the container back in the fridge. He took a long sip, and as he placed the glass back down against the counter,  he asked, "nothing? Then why are you two in here whispering?"

Sapnap quickly looked to George, unsure of what he should respond with. He saw the teasing grin as it melted onto George's face, and he braced himself for whatever was about to come spilling out of the brunette's mouth.

"Actually," George answered in a light tone, "we were just talking about how we should have left you in Techno's basement. This new you is kind of a dick, if I'm being honest."

Sapnap sucked in a breath, shaking his head and letting his eyes drop down to the table. George wore a look of feigned innocence, resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he looked over at Dream.

For a moment, there was nothing but silence, and when Sapnap couldn't stand it any longer, he pulled his eyes up to look at Dream. He was surprised to see the smile on Dream's face, and even more surprised when he laughed quietly to himself. For just a minute, he looked so much more like the person that Sapnap had known before everything had gone wrong.
