George sat in the back of the moving car, head leaned back against the seat as he stared aimlessly out the window. Sapnap was beside him, and Dream was on the opposite side of Sapnap. It was silent in the car, but George couldn't bring himself to try and fill it. He was tired of all of it, tired of pretending like he was okay with the way things were, not when he was so impossibly far from being okay.

He had been so close to getting Dream to let him in, so close after so many days of Dream being guarded and closed off. But he had lost it just as quickly, and now he couldn't shake the disappointment that wrapped around him.

He knew Sapnap felt bad for interrupting, that much was evident from the way he kept looking over at George, almost as if he wanted to say something to fix it. But he couldn't fix it, and George was starting to think that no one could.

And so they continued to sit in an impossibly tense silence, carving through the city streets towards the job that Sam had given them about an hour earlier. It wasn't until they were pulling up to the site that Sapnap finally spoke, turning his head towards George as he quietly mumbled, "George, I'm sorry about..."

His voice trailed off, and George kept quiet as he watched Dream climb out of the car. When the door closed behind him, George quietly responded, "it's fine, Sapnap. You didn't do anything wrong."

Sapnap nodded, although he looked unconvinced. And George could only give him a small smile before he was climbing out of the car, shaking off the lingering feelings of unease as they joined the rest of the team.

George barely listened as Sapnap ran over the details of the job. His eyes kept drifting over to Dream, who looked just as distracted as he stared down at the ground, seemingly lost in his own thoughts. He wondered if they were thinking about the same things, but he dropped the notion quickly when Sapnap gently nudged him and asked, "are you ready, George?"

George nodded quickly despite the fact that he hadn't heard a single word. He already knew the job would be an easy one, but he couldn't afford to be distracted when he was still recovering from his last injury.

He quickly tried to recall everything that Sam had told them about the job. Technoblade was clearly preparing for a big fight, and he was organizing a small shipment of weapons that was meant to be discreet. But Tommy and Tubbo had managed to get the information back to Sam and the team, including the details of the meeting that was happening right this very moment. It wasn't the actual shipment, just a meeting between Technoblade's team and the people who would be supplying the weapons, mainly to organize the final details of the shipment.

While Tommy and Tubbo had done a lot for them by supplying as much information as they had, they hadn't been able to find out the actual details of when and where the weapons shipment would happen. And so that's why they were gathered outside the building where the meeting was taking place, ready to barge in and get the details themselves. And then, the shipment would be as good as theirs.

George felt better after running over the details in his mind, and he gave Sapnap a reassuring smile and a quick nod as he said, "I'm ready."

Sapnap nodded back, and then turned back towards the group and said, "alright, once we get in there, we're splitting up. Dream, you take half the team and search the place, and George and I will take the rest of the team and head for the main meeting room."

George didn't like the idea of splitting up, especially because it meant that Dream would be out of his sight for longer than he would have liked. And when he looked up, he thought that Dream might feel the same way. His brow was furrowed and a look that seemed an awful lot like concern was etched into his features, but he didn't say a word, only nodded in agreement at Sapnap's words.
