Sapnap walked into the room slowly, hands raised in surrender as his eyes flitted back and forth between George and Schlatt. A slow smile spread over Schlatt's face, and he pressed the barrel of the gun harder into George's temple as he spoke, "surprised to see me?"

Sapnap tensed, because in all honesty, he hadn't anticipated seeing anyone down here, least of all, Schlatt. He could tell his disbelief was evident on his face by the mocking tone of Schlatt's laughter, and the arm around George's throat tightened as he continued, "when will you realize that we're always one step ahead of you? You can't outsmart Techno that easily."

Sapnap silently cursed his own stupidity. He should have trusted the gut feeling he had that told him it was all too easy. Of course Technoblade would leave Schlatt behind, he was far too smart to leave the place unguarded. Always one step ahead; it had been Technoblade's mantra from the very start.

Out of ideas and feeling utterly defeated, Sapnap only shook his head in response. But George was quick to scoff at the words, rolling his eyes as if there wasn't a gun pressed up against the side of his head.

"So what's your big plan here, Schlatt?" George asked.

Sapnap's eyes locked onto George's as the question hovered around them, silently willing George to just stop before they both ended up dead. But he was quickly getting used to reading George, and he knew that every once in a while, his unpredictable nature paid off. And so Sapnap picked up on the almost imperceptible raise of George's eyebrows, the upwards tug of his lips that meant he had something planned.

Sapnap let his hands fall back to his sides, bringing his gun that much closer as he waited for the unknown to happen. Schlatt's mouth opened to speak, but only a couple of words rolled off his tongue before George was moving.

In one swift movement, George's elbow was colliding hard with Schlatt's stomach, and Schlatt's arm fell away from George as he doubled over from the hit. He staggered backwards, but he recovered quickly, almost like he had been expecting it. George was still reaching for his gun as Schlatt raised his, the barrel of it pointing directly at George.

But Sapnap was faster, and his gun was already drawn and aimed as he instinctively pulled the trigger. The bullet cut through the air, flying past George and hitting Schlatt right in the chest. With a cry of pain, Schlatt was falling to the ground, and Sapnap knew immediately that the shot had unintentionally been fatal.

George's eyes widened in shock, snapping up to meet Sapnap's eyes. Before either of them could speak, Tommy came rushing down the stairs, a bewildered expression on his face as he started, "what the hell are-"

He fell silent as his eyes landed on Schlatt, mouth falling open wordlessly as he tried to process what he was looking at. And then finally, he was speaking in rushed tones, "what the hell did you do? Did you kill him?"

"I didn't mean to," Sapnap tried to reason, "I just reacted. He was going to kill George if I didn't, and I'd much rather keep George alive than Schlatt."

At this, George placed a hand over his heart, batting his lashes at Sapnap as he responded, "how sweet. Don't worry, I won't tell Karl."

Sapnap scoffed, but Tommy quickly interrupted, "this is hardly the time for jokes, George. You just shot Techno's second in command. You think he's not gonna notice that he's dead?"

George shrugged as if he could care less, barely glancing down at Schlatt's body as he replied, "who cares? The way I see it, that's one less person to deal with. Schlatt has been nothing but a pain in my ass, and now I no longer have to worry about him interfering with my plans. So thank you, Sapnap."
