Chapter XX: Unexpected Interruptions

Nik and I decided on getting takeout and going back to my place for the end of our date. The Museum was gorgeous though. The art, the company. I enjoyed it greatly. We drove to a Red Robin to just get some burgers and fry's. Nik wanted us to get at least some kind of decent restaurant food, but I pushed for the fast food. I didn't get out much from my home, but when I did I preferred to get food I couldn't make. Fast food was one of the things I never made good enough.

"Okay, Red Robin isn't even fast food." I told him to argue my point. Nik glanced at me from the road and shook his head.

"It is too. Burgers, fry's, chicken. That's fast food, love. By definition." I laughed unattractively, shaking my head.

"Fast food by definition would be receiving food at a fast pace. Like McDonalds, takes what- five minutes to get a burger and fry's?" I told him. Nik looked at me and then focused on the road. "Red Robin takes about thirty minutes. So not Fast. Just food." Nik laughed at me.

"Fine. You make a good point."

The rest of the way was flirting and teasing before we picked up the food and headed to my place.

Once Nik pulled into my shaded driveway, putting the car into park and turning it off. I got out, carrying the bag of food as Nik followed me to the door.

"Man, I did not think you'd be out all day!" A voice said as I entered the house. My eyes snapped to see the one and only Kai Parker sitting on my sofa with his feet kicked up on the coffee table. "You know, a television would be nice, would bring this whole place together. Nik walked in behind me, stopping when he saw Kai sitting. He wasted no time in flashing over to him, wrapping his hand around his throat and lifting him to the wall.

"Who the hell are you?!" Nik exclaimed with a bit of a growl under his tone. Kai grinned.

"Nik no!" I yelled but Kai had already used magic to snap his neck, causing Kai to drop back to the ground as Nik fell over. Dead temporarily.

"You were on a date? I thought you were with that one guy- Silas?" Kai questioned as he pushed Nik's body away with his foot.

"How did you get here, Kai?" I asked, ignoring his interrogation. I knew Nik would be fine, so I didn't bother to move for him.

"Don't be rude. Offer me a drink or- is that food you brought? Smells Delicious." He said as he walked around Nik and grabbed the bag from me.

"Kai." I repeated, my eyes glaring at him. He looked up at me again as he unwrapped my burger and took a bite.

"Oh, god!" Kai moaned, chewing the bite before throwing his head back. "Food has seriously gotten so much better from when I was last here." I stared at him, waiting. Kai looked back at me as he lowered the burger.

"Fiiine! I followed you and Silas. You left a trail- which BTW, that means by the way- the world had gone so far with slang and abbreviating things- anyway, when you did the merge with me, I gained some of your- abilities. Did you know neither of us would die? Or were you just hoping for the best?" Kai questioned before he took another bite.

"I didn't know for sure until I felt you leave me." I told him with a frown as I noticed Nik moving behind him. Kai took another bite. Nik stood up and went to grab Kai. But Kai held his hand up.

"I wouldn't do that." He looked to me with his brows raised. "Does he not know who I am? Or that I have a bit of you in me? Oo that sounds dirty." Kai turned around to look at Nik. "Don't fret, I was never in her. But I think Silas was- wait did you know about that? Oops."

"He knows. Why are you here, Kai?" I asked him as he had a slight stare off with Nik. Nik flashing his yellow eyes at him as a threat.

"Careful, mutt. I can take you out of play again. Maybe then I'll just take her with me. Then I wouldn't feel so unwelcome." Kai muttered. Klaus growled at him. But Kai turned to face me with a grin. "I just came here to announce my presence, see how things are- you know. Apparently I get a bit of humanity from trying to merge with you. So I'm not looking for any- well maybe a little bit of trouble. It is like my middle name." He shrugged before finishing off my burger. "Anyway, thanks for the burger.. and the magic. Now I don't need to steal it. So yeah." I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Then what are you going to do now?" Nik spoke up. Kai looked over at Nik as he walked over to stand near me.

"Maybe pay a visit to the old coven, do an actual merge with my twin- although, I don't really need her anymore. Maybe I'll travel a bit. Find some people to cut up or something fun." Kai shrugged.

"Then go." I spoke up. I wanted him gone. I needed him gone. I didn't care what he did from here on out. As long as I never had to see him or hear about him again.

"Ooo- You wound me, Rev. I thought you liked me." Kai said, winking. Nik growled at him.

"Leave." Nik growled out. Kai sighed, shrugging.

"Fine! But if you get bored of old Mystic Falls, follow me on my twitter. I'd sure like to have Rev slide into my DMs- Thats the correct lingo right? I'm new to this." Kai said, before walking over to the front door. "Hope to TTYL! Thats Talk to you later, BTW!" Kai exclaimed as he left. I let out a sigh of relief as Nik let out a growl of annoyance.

"Sorry that he ruined our date." I mumbled, feeling bad about it. Nik looked over to me, shaking his head.

"He didn't- but we do only have burger left now." He pointed out. He walked over to me with a smirk. "But you can have the burger. I know something else I'd rather eat." My eyes widen as a squeal left my lips, Nik lifting me up and carrying me to the bedroom with the bag with the burger and fry's with us.
