Devon - 2 Months Later
Harry's 31st Birthday was a success.
We spent the morning having a picnic in the park with the girls, just enjoying a nice day as much as we could. Thankfully there wasn't any snow, but I know there's a snowstorm coming. We're hopeful the weather holds out, but it's looking like Oakley's third birthday is going to be an indoor celebration.
At night we got together with some friends and had a nice dinner while Anne watched the girls. It was just really happy and I made sure to surprise him with a nice gift. He's been very adventurous with his wardrobe since we got married, and it helps that I work at Gucci now and can get him fun clothes on a discount. I've never seen someone more excited to open a gift of clothes in my life, but I also snuck in a wallet and extra accessories I knew he'd love.
Honestly, I couldn't imagine not spending another birthday without him. Last year was so hard for me to get through, just knowing that February was his birthday and Oakley's and Valentine's Day. But now we're married and I'm never going to miss another birthday or holiday again.
Harry pulls up to the house, parking in the driveway with a smile. I lean over to peck his lips and grin. "You're getting old." I tease, and he chuckles, pecking my lips again.
"Yeah, well I have a feeling you like old men." He teases back, winking before getting out of the car.
Going inside, I take off my heels and jacket, looking over at him, "So, any big plans for thirty one?" I ask, glancing over as he takes off his own jacket and shoes.
He thinks for a minute before shrugging. "I've kind of just stopped planning for things. Whatever happens will happen and I'll take it as it comes. Obviously, I want the shop to be successful and maybe we could take a trip to London this summer to see my family over there since they're dying to meet my wife and see the girls since it's been so fucking long, but that's as far as my planning goes."
I smile, heading over to the kitchen with him, "I'd love to go to London over the summer. I think that could be really cool, we just have to plan it so I could take off work."
Leaning against the counter, I watch as Harry gets the tequila out for us to start drinking. "Of course. I'll look around to see when the best time is to go financially and then we could plan it. I think you'd love it over there. They all dress nice like you do."
He grins as he hands me a cup with tequila in it before pouring himself some. When we don't have the kids, it's always either a wine or tequila night, and since it's his birthday, of course he picked his favorite alcohol. "You think I dress nice?" I smile, resting my chin on my palm as I look up at him.
"Of course I do. You're so beautiful, baby." He smiles, holding his glass out for me to toast with him.
With a grin, I clink my glass against his. "Happy birthday, angel." I smile, before taking a sip from the tequila. I've definitely gotten a lot better at drinking it straight, but there's still a burn which sucks. Harry could go through tequila like water though, and I'm sure he's planning on doing that tonight.
He looks down into his glass, pursing his lips as he looks at the liquid, "You know... Last year... I didn't do anything for my birthday... It was just me, the girls, Mitch and my mum and sister. And the girls were miserable because I was miserable, and everyone who was there knew you were missing, but nobody brought you up. There was this unspoken thing where nobody was talking about you, but everyone was thinking about you. And then you texted me to wish me a happy birthday... And for a second I felt like maybe you knew I missed you... But I was still so ashamed of myself for how I treated you, I just didn't even know what to say. So I left it alone."
