In which...Peter Parker questions whether spider man really is worth it after he loses the love of his life, Gwen Stacy
This one isn't rini related!
The death of Gwen Stacy.
The town was never the same after that. Gwen was loved by many, and it was so hard to believe that she was actually gone.
She was so genuine to everyone she met. She always held a smile on her face and treated everyone with kindness. She was truly the light that lit the town.
So with her gone, that light had grown dim.
After Gwen died, Spider-Man suddenly disappeared. With Spider-Man gone, crime was running ramped. The police simply couldn't keep up with everyone, and everyone wondered where Spider-Man had gone.
They needed him.
"Seems like everyone misses Spider-Man. He's been gone for a while" Aunt may spoke up as she watched the currently news reports
"Yeah, I guess" Peter spoke mindlessly playing around with his cereal. He allowed it to get soggy not having an appetite anymore.
"Peter" aunt may spoke sympathetically. Peter picked up on the sympathetic tone and interrupted her. He got up and put his backpack on.
He didn't want to hear whatever speech she had for him. Nothing was going to change the fact that she was gone.
"You know what aunt may, I'm gonna go uh clear my head and get those organic eggs you had me to get" he spoke avoiding eye contact of any kind
"Wait Peter—"
"I'll be back aunt may" he said before leaving.
Aunt may sighed before pouring his cereal down the toilet. She knew he wasn't going to finish it. Who eats soggy cereal anyway?
She peeked into his room and saw a basket of clothes that he washed weeks ago. He never had the energy to put them up.
He didn't have energy to do most things these days.
She sat on his bed and began to fold his clothes. She saw a red and blue suit that looked all too familiar sticking out at the bottom.
She reached down to pick it up and her heart dropped at the sight. This would explain all the nights he came in late with cuts and bruises.
All the nights she was worried sick about him he was out there saving the world.
Aunt may say there in shock staring down at the suit that belonged to her nephew.
"Aunt may I can explain" Peter said cautiously once he saw the woman in his room staring at the suit. Aunt may simply looked at him before speaking
"He's you. You're him. You're...Spider-Man"
"Yes, but I don't even think I want to be Spider-Man anymore. I think he died a long time ago" Peter said. He took a seat next to aunt may and tears filled his eyes. Everytime he even saw that suit memories of his dead girlfriend in his arms came flashing back.
"What do you mean you don't want to be Spider-Man anymore Peter. Have you seen what's going on everywhere. The police can't keep up! The people need you"
"Yeah? And what about what I need aunt may!? Because the people who I love and need most somehow always end up in a casket. I'm just tired" he said with hurt laced in his voice. He raised his voice at first before realizing who he was talking to.
"I'm tired aunt may. Im so tired. I save so many people each day. I've saved kids from cars dangling off bridges, I've saved adults from getting hit by cars, but somehow I'm always losing the people who I love. You're the only one I have left Aunt May" he looked at her and saw that her eyes were glossy. Her tears were threatening to fall hearing how much that kid had actually been through.
"How am I supposed to believe that all of this is worth it when the people I love more than anything are getting torn away from me one by one and there's nothing I can do about it. I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. It was my web that killed her"
"Peter I'm sure it wasn't—"
"It was aunt may. And do you know why he dropped her? Because he wanted my blood. He thought it would cure him or something but I wouldn't give it to him. It would've been way too dangerous for him to take my blood I mean so many risks came along with it. He was mad at me so he took it out on Gwen. So no matter how you flip the story it's my fault. No matter how much of a good person that I try to be, I'm always doing something wrong. So is it really worth it?"
"Peter. Let me ask you something. What would Gwen want you to do if she was still here?"
"Aunt may I don't think you understand"
"I do, but I also know that Gwen would never want you to stop doing good for other people."
"I just can't do it aunt may. Not with her gone." He said before taking the suit from her hands and throwing it in the trash can.
She knew that she wouldn't be able to convince him. At least not right now so she decided to give him the space that he obviously needed.

"Breaking news! Someone who seems to be in a gigantic suit with 16 legs is destroying the entire downtown area as we speak" The news reporters voice came through the tv.
Peter heard the footsteps of the machine coming closer as he watched the tv through the window of a store.
He noticed his backup suit slightly sticking out the side of his backpack and all the horrifying screams piercing his ears.
He couldn't help himself. He went to into the alley and changed into the suit moving closer to where all the commotion was.
"Hey! Why don't you pick on someone your own size"
