Alexandria
I texted Jay on the way home to keep the kids for the rest of the weekend because we needed some time alone. She didn't argue and questioned if we were okay. I lied. Obviously, Jayda would not be the one to talk about this with right now. If she were to hear Josephine's name again, she'd freak.
We're in our bedroom right now, and neither of us has spoken since dinner. Elliot walks to me and starts to unbutton my top. Her fingers lightly glide across the fabric. Her eyes never leave mine.
"I love you," she whispers. I give her a soft smile.
"And I love you," I answer back. She pulls my top off and does the same with my pants. Leaving me in just my boxers.
I grab her hips and turn her around slowly. I grab her hair moving it to one side of her neck. Goosebumps rise on her skin as my fingers trail across her soft caramel skin. I unhook her necklace and pull the zipper down her black dress.
She lets it fall to her feet and grips my hand for support stepping out of it. Guiding her to the bed, she slowly sits. I kneel as she kicks her leg out for me to take the heels off and sits in front of me with nothing on.
I can see the worry in her eyes. She wants to talk about what happened but doesn't want to upset me. I lean in between her legs, pulling her hips closer to me. I'm at eye level with her belly, and I smile.
"Don't stress my baby out," I say teasingly. She chuckles and runs her fingers through my hair, pulling me closer to her. I know that look she's giving me, and I shake my head no. She sighs and rests her chin on the top of my head as my arms wrap around her waist tightly. "Don't do this. She said not to feel pity for her."
"I can't help it, Alex," and I know she can't. My wife is too good. She always wants to help someone, but Josephine doesn't need help. She is a powerful woman and seems to be doing just fine.
"What do you want us to do Elliot? She cannot see her until Adelaide is ready for it." I lean back from her and stand up. I get under the covers laying on the bed. El grabs a shirt out of my drawer, puts it over her naked body, and crawls under the covers with me. "She's not a charity case El. She doesn't need help."
"She's in denial Alex. The woman was literally sold by her own blood to carry drugs across the border. Now look at her... she looks like she owns the whole damn cartel." I remember that the optic eye only picked up certain images of her looking different each time and it all makes sense now.
I don't say anything. Just stare up at the fan. The blades spin counterclockwise. It makes me dizzy, and I pinch between my eyes to stop it. Elliot leans up, resting her arm on my chest. She looks at me as her hand rubs my cheek. "Fine. I'll swing back over to the restaurant tomorrow. Hopefully, she's there" She rolls her eyes and falls back onto the bed.
"Oh, lord! Can't you just do some agency trick like Roger and find her phone number to text her instead?"
I laugh and roll over on top of her. "Mhmm, you sure you didn't slip your number to her while she was making googly eyes at you?" I say, wiggling my brows.
She gasps and smacks my chest. "I would never do that... without your permission!" We both start laughing. We can joke about it because I know my wife. She is mine, and I know neither of us would cheat. I am confident in our relationship.
Josephine's tactic is to flirt her way back into our life so that she can meet her daughter, but that's not how this game works. I'm not interested in that type of relationship with her. I still don't even know how to start processing her story. It's sad as hell, but it made her skin thicker.
