We made it to the restaurant and of course, there was a long line out the door. I stop walking and Alex turns around when she senses I'm not beside her anymore. She walks back to me and raises my chin.

She smells like old spice, and I smile at how good she looks. Her thumb rubs my chin, and she slowly pulls me into a kiss. Her lips are soft and plumped. The kiss is quick, just enough to calm my nerves. "At any time you get uncomfortable, just let me know and we can leave," she says against my lips.

"I should be the one telling you that," I chuckle.

She shakes her head and sighs, "I beat my demons a long time ago, thanks to you. This is for Addy."

"For Addy," I repeat. She hooks her arm around mine, and we continue walking to the door. Assuming our names are on the list, we go straight to the front. The host looks down at his pad then back at us. "Name?"

"Elliot and Alexandria Reed," she says. He looks back down and shakes his head.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I don't see your name," we both look confused, and Alex rereads the note that Josephine's bodyguard gave me.

"We're supposed to be meeting Jo..."

"Is there a problem?" There goes that eloquent voice again. She has a thick Latin American accent that makes every word sound like it's just rolling off her tongue. Josephine walks out of the club in a long shimmering red dress. The fabric fits her curves perfectly, and the leg slit reached just to her... a throat being cleared, brings us all out of our trance from her entrance. What an entrance that was.

"Is there a reason my guests have not been escorted to my table yet?" she asks the host. He looks frightened.

"N- No no Ms. Jackson. I was not aware these were your..." She raises her hand to cut him off.

"Enough Julio. It's fine. Don't make the mistake again. The Reeds are welcome here any time they like." He nods and goes back to letting those on the list in.

Josephine turns on her heels and starts to walk back in. We follow behind her as her men escort her to a secluded area in the back of the restaurant. She clearly holds a lot of power, but I can't help but wonder exactly how much control she maintains?

We make it to the back and she waves for us to take a seat in front of her. Alex pulls my chair out and takes a seat next to me. "Kilian, déjanos [leave us]," she says. He nods and walks out, closing the room door for privacy.

She walks across the room and takes a bottle of wine out of a bucket of ice. She pours three glasses in front of us and hands us each one. We are both hesitant to drink, but she just laughs and sips her drink.

"I promise, I'm not here to hurt you. It's not poisoned."

Alex drinks from her glass and places it gently on the table. The ankle of her left foot rests against her right knee as she gets comfortable. She fixes the cuff of her suit and twirls her wedding band around her finger.

"So, what is it that you're here for then, Josephine?" She asks with a cold demeanor. Getting straight to the point.

Josephine smirks and finally takes a seat in front of us. She leans back in her chair, crossing her legs.

The slit of her dress falls, revealing her long tan leg. Josephine catches me looking and her lip twitches up in a smirk. She sips her wine again and gives the same look to Alex.

"What is it you think I'm here for?" She smirks.

This dinner couldn't be any more awkward, but at the same time, it's very intriguing. I can honestly say I'm not too fond of Josephine because of what she did to my wife 11 years ago, but that is not my battle to fight, and it seems Alex already fought it and won.
