Elliot
"Mommy!" Camden jumps into the pool, and I pull him from underwater into my arms.
"Hi peanut," I whisper against his cheek.
"I made a new friend," he says just as low. His smile is priceless. I mimic it, and he cheeses harder.
"I know," I say, poking his button nose.
"Is she your friend too?" he inquires.
"I'd like to think so..." he leans back, splashing me with the water. I gasp and tickle his little sides. He lets out a deep belly laugh and tries to wiggle out of my arms. I stop tickling him and rest my forehead against his. I love being a mother. And I'm thankful Alex has made me a mommy of not one but soon three little ones. They spark so much light in my life, they keep me going.
Adelaide, Macy, Layla, Mia, and Gina all hold hands and jump into the pool together. There is a big splash, and I cover myself with my son. He takes on all the impact and screeches as the water hits him.
Alex walking by the screen door catches my attention. I watch as she walks over to a lawn chair and sits down, pulling her phone out and playing on it instead of getting back into the pool. I gently push Camden towards the rest of the kids, and he gladly swims away.
I swim to the edge and walk up the steps out of the pool. My body is dripping with water and Alex's eye flashes from the phone up to me. She licks her lips and takes in every inch of my body. I grab the towel, and she reaches for a pillow to cover her front. I burst out laughing and walk towards her. She quickly moves the pillow and pulls me down between her legs. She was right to cover herself. Her rigid member presses through her swim trucks onto my backside. I cover us with the large towel, and she wastes no time kissing down my neck. "Baby, there are kids."
She glances up to the pool and bites my shoulder. A low moan escapes my lips, and she covers my mouth quickly. Thankfully they did not hear. She licks the sting of her mark. "Put that away," I whisper.
"Yes ma'am," she replies, amused. I swing around and see that her eyes are a little red and puffy. She tries to turn her head away, but I pull her back to me.
"Al? What happened?" She glances behind me at the window to our room. "Is she okay?" was the first thing that came to mind as I panicked. I try to get up, but she grabs my hips grounding me back down. Her thumb rubs my cheek to calm me.
"She's back asleep."
"Okay... so why are your eyes puffy like you were crying? Did something happen?" She plays with the string of my bathing suit. "Alex?"
"She didn't ask to be brought here... so that I could help her."
"What do you mean... why did she ask for you then?"
"She thought I would let her..."
"Die?" my eyebrows raised in disbelief. "She asked for you because she thought you would just let her bleed out. What the fuck?" I jump up, and she tries to stop me, but there's so much anger coursing through my veins that I yank my arm away with ease.
"Adelaide, watch your brother. We'll be right back," I hear her say behind me, but I'm already down the hall on my way to confront her. I hear her footsteps run through the kitchen, and as soon as I open the bedroom door, all blood drains from my face. The pit of my stomach gets those butterflies again as Josephine stands there completely naked, and I forget everything I was going to say. She quickly covers herself, and I turn around, closing back the door. Alex stands at the end of the hall smirking at me.
"I tried to warn you." Heat rises to my cheeks as I turn red. She walks past me and knocks on the door. She peeks in, and I hear her ask if she's dressed. She swings the door open and waves for me to walk in.
