It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone...
Catalaiya's pov:
We were all seated at the dining table with a heavy silence around us. Mr Alvaro was sitting at the head of the table with his wife on his left side. Beside Davina, there was Hanna and that was it.
On the right side of Mr Alvaro, there was Adam, Alicia, me and Aziel. He sat far from his parents and Hanna. He was silent staring at his plate.
"Thank you for inviting me for dinner." Mr Alvaro said to no one in particular.
"Me too, I'm honoured to be here. I'm just a little sad that you are so far away from me," Hanna said while looking at Aziel with a seductive smile.
Aziel looks at her blankly.
"That won't be for too long," Davina reassured her.
Hmm, excuse me, what?
"Aziel, why don't you move next to her? I bet you both have a lot of things to talk about." Davina told Aziel.
As if knowing Aziel would say something unpleasant, Adam spoke before Aziel could,"How about we have dinner before talking? The food is getting cold."
"He's right," Mr Alvaro said.
"What kind of maid do you have here? She can't even keep the food warm before serving." Hanna shook her head disapprovingly.
"I have a maid at home who makes sure that my food is always warm and freshly cook," Hanna spoke.
"Exactly, that's how it should be done." Davina agreed.
We looked at Thalia who was standing by the wall, silently listening to them. Aziel gave her a reassuring nod and she smiled lightly as if telling us that she didn't mind what they were saying.
I took a bite of the roasted potato and it was still hot. They were both being dramatic for no reason.
"You are so quiet, why aren't you talking?" I looked up and saw Hanna looking at Aziel with a pout, showing us how much she overlined her lipstick.
"I don't want to," Aziel replied dismissively.
"That's rude," His mom stated.
"Look who's talking," Alicia murmured earning a glare from Davina.
"Anyway Aziel, I heard that you refused one of the deals that my dad offered to you. It was a great one... if you had accepted, we would have been in New Zealand in a nice villa." Hanna told him.
"What deal?" Mr Alvaro asked cautiously.
Adam cleared his throat, "The one we discussed,"
Mr Alvaro thought about it and his face went blank when he remembered it.
"The deal that could have got us a lot of money." He said-not happy- as he looked at Aziel.
"Yes, that's why dad suggested it to Aziel. The money was great, the deal was great..." Hanna added.
"Aziel, the deal seems good why would refuse that?" Davina asked with a frown. Aziel put his fork down and looked at them irritatedly.
"It's my company, it's my decision. I don't see why I should explain myself to outsiders who have no say in my business." He replied coldly.
"But the money was-"
"I don't care about the money and I don't regret refusing the deal. I'm glad I did, I got to spent a whole pleasant week with my wife on an amazing island for our honeymoon." Aziel stated.
Hanna shifted her gaze on me and glared at me. I ignored her as I reached to put my hand on Aziel's. He wrapped his hand around me, rubbing his thumb on my skin.
His dad chuckled humourlessly, "So now you will commit to that wedding?"
"We both are," Adam unexpectedly blurt out.
Their father looked at both of them before standing up, the look on his face shows that he wasn't happy about that.
Wasn't he the one who got Alicia for Adam? Why doesn't he want his sons to commit to their relationship?
"I'm out of here."
He walked out, leaving the house. He made sure to slam the front door so that we hear it.
"Well played, you got your dad angry," Davina stated.
"And now you care because?..." Aziel trailed off.
"You might be all confident right now but I can tell you that whatever is happening between you two will not last," Davina said as she stood up. She glared at me before walking away to the guest room.
"Aziel, your parents are thinking well for you," Hanna said showing fake concern. She leaned against the table, pushing her chest forward.
She was really getting on my nerves...
"I think you should listen to them," she added.
"Thank lord, she has the brain to think," I said sarcastically as I grabbed my glass of wine.
She turned toward me, "Excuse me?"
"You are excused," I said.
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?" She demanded.
"I'm Mrs Alvaro, nice to meet you Miss Thompson," I replied cockily. That seems to anger her even more.
"Are you feeling insecure Mrs Alvaro?" She asked with a slight smirk.
"Insecure? Let's see... I'm here sitting in decent clothes, a ring on my finger, his last name attached to mine while you are here in these... clothes and that's it. Again, who's insecure?" I inquired.
She abruptly stood up, clenching her jaw tightly as her anger increased. What I didn't expect was her, throwing her red wine on my chest. I felt the cold liquid on my chest, running down on my stomach.
"Oh my," Alicia gasped.
I chuckled humourlessly.
"You are so stupid," I commented as I stood up.
She gasped genuinely feeling offended by what I said.
"Who throws red wine on a red dress?" I said as I looked down at her white outfit. She seems to understand where I was going with that and her eyes widened in horror.
I grabbed Aziel's glass of wine-as he didn't touch it at all and it was still full-and threw it on her stomach where I knew it will leave a stain.
Another glass of wine was poured onto Hanna and I turned to my side to see Alicia grinning, "I always wanted to do that."
Despite being pissed, that made me chuckled.
Thalia walked to me with a towel. I grabbed it and wipe the liquid on my chest.
"I need a towel!" Hanna stated looking at Thalia.
"Oh, why don't you ask your maid?" Thalia replied before looking at us, ignoring her.
I felt two hands on my hips before I felt his front on my back.
"That was kinda hot," he whispered near my ear before he kissed my cheek.
"I need to take a shower," I say. I could feel my clothes sticking on my skin.
"Sure dear. You both go to your room, I'll reheat your food and I'll bring it there." Thalia said before turning toward Alicia and Adam.
"You both wait a few minutes, I'll pack some food for you two. You all barely touch your food." Thalia added.
We completely forgot that Hanna was still here...
