- What would happen if you meet your lifes greatest interest?

--

Aliens. A species that doesn't live on earth, instead they live in another world that somehow humans doesn't know where. They can be real or fictional, depends on what you believe in.

but for a young girl, she seems to find them interesting, to think that they are real somehow and is living on the same galaxy or even universe like ours.

Maybe we haven't found extraterrestrials because they're all dead - at least now. The universe is 13.78 billion years old, and in that amount of time, there might have been plenty of civilization that evolved and went extinct.

The 14 year old girl furrowed her eyebrows at what she's reading, it seemed believable but can still be suspicious. How can a human make this theory be approved that it is real without a well known evidence.

But maybe they're not dead - just hibernating.

She scoffs and rolled her eyes, everything that connects to her interest are all full of doubts.

"If even a genius like Stephen Hawking thought that aliens might destroy us if they ever were to find us, then maybe we should be a little afraid. Perhaps the aliens think the same thing, so they've gone into hiding from us--" the girl instantly stopped reading and closed her book, hiding it under her blanket as soon as she heard a knock on her door.

"jennie, it's time for dinner" she hears someone says as well as footsteps that was coming near her.

she sighs and sat up from her bed, nodding her head with a little bit dismay. She got to the good part of the book, why eat dinner now?

her mom looks at her with a gentle smile and eyes her, "what were you reading?" that cause the widen eye that was suddenly formed in jennies face.

"nothing" she said in a hurry and a little nervous voice that made her mom chuckle, her eyes looking at the book form that seems to be hiding in jennies blanket.

Her mom sighs and looks at her, "honey, don't tell me you've been reading aliens again. Your father will get mad" she warns her, jennie just let out a groan she has been use to it.

her father thinks all her interest are a joke and would just compare her 'perfect-in-her-fathers-eyes' brother again and again.

"you'll just be in his side anyway" she looks at her mother with a frown and pain in her eyes, standing up going downstairs.

--

The family sat on the dining table, no one was talking, it was pure silent with their voices and all that can be heard is utensils clicking to one another.

Jennies father eyes her, "so, what have you been doing in your room, jennie? It's vacation, go outside and enjoy. Be a kid. Be a teen." the first words her father had said to her this day. He didn't even greeted her, asking nicely about how was her day.

Jennie sat silent, not caring and pretends she didn't heard a thing. "she's into aliens again, dad" she lifts her eyes up, glaring at her brother who was sitting Infront of her.

She hears her father sigh, shaking his head in disappointment. "again jennie? take interest on what's real. That is purely fake and fictional, stop wasting your time."

"how can you say that?" she argues back, "Just years ago, we had not discovered a single planet outside our solar system. Now we know of more than 3,000 of them. So dad, tell me a very scientific fact that can make me believe in you" that's how her father looked at her with disgraced and anger. for jennie, she was just fighting for herself. but for her father, she was disrespectful.
