It's been a couple of weeks since the Patriot's game and my anxiety has hit an all time high. Chris and me haven't been able to see each other much due to our busy schedules. To be fair, he had warned me beforehand just how crazy his schedule was going to be at the fire station, but it didn't help me much.
Ever since hearing Eli telling Chris so easily that he loved him, I've been a nervous wreck.
I know this has been something I've wanted for him foe a while, a good father figure that loves him, but it still made me nervous. Now I knew both of us were in way too deep with Chris, and if our relationship didn't last, it wouldn't be just one broken heart it would be two.
It also didn't help that Chris had yet to tell me about his conversation with Eli. I know I should trust that he will tell me, bet every time I bring it up over the phone, he says it's better discussed in person. I know I should give him the benefit of the doubt that he will, but this conversation concerns my son and his feelings.
I look across the table of the pizza shop at Eli still animatedly telling me about his day. I feel bad as I continue smiling and nodding along without really listening.
"Look mom, there's Chris!" I see his eyes brighten up at the sight of our favorite fireman.
"Hey bud! I missed ya!" They hug tightly before heading back over to our table.
Chris pulled me to him as I was standing, bringing me into a tight hug. I heard him inhale and exhale a sigh as I melted into the embrace. I had missed being in his arms just as much as it seemed he had missed having me in his arms.
"I missed you Frankie." He softly whispered into my ear.
I smiled up at him and pulled him into a soft kiss. "You can show me just how much later."
His deep groan made me giggle. "Oh, I intend to."
I couldn't stop the blush that attacked my cheeks. He gave me soft kiss before we sat down to enjoy our dinner.

Dinner had been just as lively as usual with Chris and Eli constantly talking. I wasn't fully checked into the conversations, but I still smiled at their antics.
We were now back at my house. I was sitting on the couch waiting for Chris to finish reading Eli a bedtime story, per the request of the latter, enjoying the sounds of giggles and Chris' voice coming from Eli's room.
I hear Chris softly say goodnight to Eli and exhale the breath I had been holding in. As much as I want Chris in my bed, I need to know about his conversation with Eli.
I feel Chris sit next to me on the couch setting his beer bottle next to my glass of wine. He extends his arm behind me on the couch.
He exhales and looks at me. "Frankie, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier about what Eli and me talked about, but I wanted to do it in person."
I shift so I sit looking at him. "I know Chris, it just seems like there's more than just him saying 'I love you'."
Chris exhaled a laugh. "Well, first he asked me if we were getting married because his friends' parents were married because they love each other. And since we love each other, he figured we would get married."
I laugh a little in shock. "Seems like sound logic. What did you say?"
Chris tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear and kept his hand on my cheek. "I told him that I would love to marry you some day, but we've only been together a short time."
