~3 years later~

I'm standing in the kitchen watching a 9 year old Eli running around the backyard with Dodger and his now 3 year old baby brothers, Liam Oliver and Mason Henry.

Liam and Mason are Chris' mini me's. The only way we can tell them apart is that Liam got Chris' blue eyes and Mason got my green eyes. They have been such a fun, yet exhausting addition to our family.

Chris has been such a great father to Eli and the twins. When he didn't have shifts he would wake up with the boys and feed them breast milk bottles at night to let me sleep.

Chris was recently promoted to assistant chief for the station, which meant less calls, and better hours, so he's been able to be home a lot more, which is greatly appreciated.

I'm in my own world watching my boys with a smile on my face when I feel two strong arms wrap around me from behind.

"How are my girls doing today?" Chris asks in my ear as he rubs my almost ready to pop swollen belly.

"Madison Grace is doing great, judging by the summersaults it feels like she's doing. Me, on the other hand, am exhausted." I sigh as he rubs my belly, making our unborn daughter calm down.

He turns me around before kneeling and talking to my swollen belly. "Madi, you know we've talked about this young lady. You need to let your mom rest. She has 4 rowdy boys to take care of, including myself, so I need you to be my princess and let mama rest." I can't help the giggle that leaves my lips.

Chris stands back up, after giving my belly a kiss, and leans down to press a loving kiss on my lips. "Well, my beautiful wife, how about you head up to our bathroom, get the bath to your liking and relax while I take care of the boys and dinner."

"How can I say no to that suggestion my amazing husband, Captain Evans." I relish the little moan my words pull from him.

"You are looking for trouble, Mrs. Evans." He huskily whispers with his lips hovering over mine.

"I can't wait, Captain." I give him a quick peck before heading up to our bathroom giggling at his groan.

I never expected my life to turn out like this. One day I was more than happy as a single mother to Eli, the next I couldn't imagine it without Chris by our side. He has been an amazing husband, and father. He's my best friend, the boy's best friend, and no doubt our little girl will be a daddy's girl. As I relax into the warm bath, I can't help but exhale and feel how grateful I am to have found my best friend and true love in the most unexpected of ways.
