The long weekend is finally here, and my body is buzzing with excitement. Jules would be arriving any minute now. And we are planning on having a night out with Chris and one of his friends. We had already agreed to go to our favorite bar in town, and just have a goodnight out.
Eli is staying with my parents, and we agreed to go over to their pool tomorrow, and just have hang out like we used to, Jules, Eli and me. Of course my parents are also included in that, and Chris has to work. Eli is so excited for tomorrow with how much he missed having Jules around.
She was honestly my saving grace after I had Eli. She was in the room with me and my mom when he was born, she would watch him so I could nap or study, she was so supportive that Eli calls her auntie Jules.
I hear a knock at the door and let out a little squeak as I rush to open it. There in front of me, is my best friend with a giant grin mirroring mine. She let out a little squeak as well before we pulled each other into a tight hug.
"I've missed you so much babe!" I feel her exhale in relief.
"I've missed you too Jules!" I squeeze her just a little more, before we break apart.
I grab her hand and lead her into the house. She puts bags in the room she always stays in before coming to join me on the couch. I hand her a glass of wine and she giggles.
"So, we're pregaming?" I shake my head laughing.
"I thought you may want some before we head out." She nods her head fervently before taking a sip.
"So, where's your hot fireman of a boyfriend?" I laugh at her description.
"He'll be home soon, he's at work." She smirks while raising an eyebrow at me.
"How weirdly good does it feel to say that?" I look at her confused. "That he's on his way home."
"Oh!" I giggle a little. "It's surreal! After Mike I never really expected this to happen, but it feels so good! He's incredible." I stare off into space smiling, thinking about Chris.
Jules waves her hand over my face. "Earth to Frankie! I thought I lost you there for a second!"
She laughs at the blush on my face. "Sorry, how's work going?"
"It's really good. It's a tough job, but I'm happy to help kids." I smile at her response.
Jules is an amazing surgeon, and the fact she went into pediatric surgery, says a lot about her. She loves to help people, and if it's kids, even more. She has always had a kind heart, which is what first drew me to her.
We catch up for a bit longer before we hear the door open. Jules looks at me with a big grin, excited to finally meet Chris.
He walks in with a smile, in his usual uniform of black pants and tight navy blue fire station t-shirt, that hugs all his muscles in the right place.
Jules' jaw drops, and I can't help but start laughing. I walk over to Chris as he pulls me into a hug before leaning down to give me a quick kiss.
He walks over to Jules and extends his hand out to her. "You must be the famous Jules. Frankie has told me a lot about you."
Jules shakes his hand with a slight blush at her reaction. "Um, yeah! You must be the famous Chris! She has definitely told me a lot about you too."
They share a small smile before Chris is back by my side. "Well, I'm going to go shower and start getting ready."
He gives me a kiss before heading on to our room. I look over at Jules and burst out laughing. She looks at me unimpressed before she can't help but join. We start to calm down and wipe our tears, as we sit back down on the couch.
