AN-The image above is how I imagine Eli and Chris

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spring has finally sprung which brings in many extra patients. Allergy and sinus issues season is upon my office. Which just means that I have been busier than usual.

I always feel bad during the beginning of spring because Eli wants to play baseball. When he was younger, and t-ball was his only option, I was a resident so I had to rely on my parents and their schedule to take him to practice. Which meant that some years he got to do it, and other years he didn't. But Eli is such a sweet and special little boy that he never complained and always understood.

This year, while I feel bad that I can't always be there for practices, I'm extremely grateful to Chris for helping me out. Eli is now old enough to start little league baseball, so I signed him up for it. Coincidentally Chris is his coach.

When I found out about it, Chris just called it a "happy coincidence", but the glint in his eyes gave him away. They were both excited to be on the same team, especially after our conversation after the Patriot's game.

I am very happy for them to get this time together, doing something fun, and that they both genuinely seem to love doing.

Today though, I was finally able to leave the office early enough to watch some of practice. I brought clothes from home and changed in my office before heading out.

I'm wearing light distressed skinny jeans, a navy blue v neck t-shirt, a light colored jean jacket, and navy blue converse. My hair is pulled up in a pony tail with one of Chris' Boston caps, that he recently let me steal, on.

I parked at the ball field and quietly made my way to the bleachers. The smile on my face can't be contained as I sit and watch Chris coaching. He is serious, but with a gentle touch. He's making it fun for the kids while also being technical with a glint in his eyes.

All the kids have giant eager smiles on their faces. I finally find Eli's face and it almost makes me cry. He's just as eager and excited as the other kids, but he also looks on seriously taking in every bit of information. He seems to be hanging on every word that Chris says. It makes my mom heart burst of joy at seeing him this happy. It may seem like something so small, but I know he will cherish and carry this memory with him for the rest of his life.

My happy mood is brought down a peg when I overhear a conversation between two  women a couple of bleachers in front of me.

"Can you believe Chris is taking someone's kid to and from practice? I mean, just be a good mom and do it yourself or don't sign your kid up!" A busty blonde with perfectly styled hair and make up says.

"I know! I heard it's his girlfriend's son. I don't know who she is, but it seems irresponsible to me. Maybe that's why she's a single mom, too preoccupied with work." A brunette with equally immaculate looking hair and make up says.

They're both dressed like they were at brunch instead of a baseball field. They seem to notice me listening in because the blonde turns her head over to look at me with fire in her green eyes.

"Don't you know it's rude to listen in on other people's conversations?" She sneers at me.

I roll my eyes. "Don't you know it's rude to mom shame and talk about people you don't know anything about? You don't know what other people are going through, therefore you shouldn't have an opinion on it. It seems coach Evans is just trying to be helpful and a good boyfriend."

Both women huff and stand up to leave the bleachers. I watch as they walk towards the fence where Chris and his assistant are standing leading practice. My blood begins to boil as they start attempting to get his attention with flirtatious looks.
