Went Home

I realized a little too late that in the last chapter I didn't write in Roman putting on more makeup-
Let's say he did it on the way there----

Roman slowly walked over to where Virgil sat with Patton and Logan.

He was quietly talking with Patton, his face a little red. When they saw Roman Patton smiled and Virgil waved, not quite making eye contact.

Roman sat down by them.

"Hey, Jim Handsome," Patton said happily, scooting to sit closer to Logan, who was reading another book.

"Hey, Padre," Roman chirped, picking at the grass. "What were you guys talking about?" Virgil looked like he was about to implode and Patton just giggled.

"Virgil was just talking about you," Patton shrugged.

"Again-." Logan added, Virgil pulled up his hood.

"Guys," Virgil pulled his hoodie strings and closed the hood around his face. "Don't make it sound weird, I will die of embarrassment. Right here, right now." The four of them chuckled.

They ended up in a more normal conversation afterward.
By "more normal", they meant a conversation about gay.

"Oh, Roman, we never asked-," Patton chirped. "You're gay, aren't you?" He nodded.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Logan asked. Roman really quickly shook his head.

"Oh, no-. Heavens, no-," Roman rambled. "I don't even know how I would... like how I would even know they were like me.

"It's all about dropping the right clues, kiddo," Patton said sweetly.

"But... how?" Roman asked.

"Very deliberate, very gay, eye contact," Logan said, closing his book with a smile.

"That one doesn't work that well," Virgil shrugged. "I've tried." Patton sighed lovingly.

"Well, there are other ways, too," Patton mumbled, smiling.

"I mean... you could just go up and say 'Hi, I'm so and so, I fuck men, what's your name?'."

"Virgil! Language!" Patton shrieked. Virgil snorted, laughing out loud.

Roman giggled, fiddling with his hair.

"You could just give off romantic gestures," Patton chimed. "It's a lot less... weird." He said, jokingly "glaring" at Virgil.

"Yeah, that's probably what I'd go with." Roman snickered.

The bell rang and Patton groaned.

"I don't wanna go to math..." he sighed. Logan chuckled.

"Catch you later Pop Star," Virgil said smiling. Patton gasped.

"New dad-themed nickname! Score!" Virgil laughed quietly, waving for Roman to follow.

"So, you're going back home now..?" Virgil asked. He sounded disappointed.

"Yeah, I guess," Roman sighed. "But uh-... thanks for letting me stay over. It was really nice." Virgil nodded.

"You can come over any time you want," The emo smiled sweetly, stopping as they got to the outside of Roman's house.

"You know you didn't have to walk all this way, right?" Roman snickered.

"Yeah, I know, Princey," He pulled a phone out of his pocket. "Don't forget to text me. If something happens, I'll be over as soon as possible, okay?" Roman felt himself smile softly as he nodded, taking the phone.

"See you later, Scare-amore," Roman said, opening the gate and stepping into his yard.

"Yep," Virgil smiled lightly. "See you soon, Sir-Sing-A-Lot."

Roman turned and started walking.

"Wait- uh- Princey?" Roman turned.

"Yeah?"

"Actually... never mind," Virgil mumbled, his face was slightly flushed, but Roman thought it was just the way the light was hitting his face. "It's... not important. I'll see you tomorrow." Roman snickered a bit.

"Well, if you find something important to say, go ahead and say it," Roman waved, turning back around. "But I'll see you tomorrow." He walked his way back down that cursed driveway and stepped inside.

The house was quiet.
Roman assumed his father was at work, but he didn't feel like doing anything. He just silently walked up to his room and laid down. His pocket buzzed and he pulled out the phone Virgil had given him.

It was a notification--from Virgil, of course. He tapped on it.

Emo Nightmare
Mom says she misses you

Roman smiled lightly, he thought for a second before replying.

Tell her I miss her too :]

Emo Nightmare
Sure thing, Romeo

Roman set the phone under his bed and sighed.

He'd only been home for maybe five minutes and he already missed Virgil's house.

He missed Virgil, especially.

It was a kind of strange feeling if he was being honest with himself.
Before Virgil decided Roman was going to be his new friend, Roman didn't talk to anyone. If he did, then he was being mean or something to keep people away.

Now, he'd give almost anything to be around a person--Virgil in particular.
That was basically unheard of from the perspective of himself only maybe two weeks ago.

Roman sighed, rubbing his eyes.

"I need to get out more," he sank down in his bed and covered his face with his blanket. "Maybe I'll dream about going outside." He laughed to himself, it was a kind of sad laugh, but he laughed.
