Roman awoke again, hearing a chirp outside his window to see fisticuffs.
"I'd almost forgotten about you," He chuckled, pulling something out of his stash and opening the window. "Fisticuffs, you're never going to believe this." Roman picked off a bit of the food and set in near his bird friend. "I actually have a person-friend!" The bird ruffled its feathers, pecking at the food.
Roman stepped back after setting out the rest of the small snack. He said his goodbyes to the small bird, shut the window, and got ready for the day.
He paused at the shirts. He looked at his closet, and then onto the chair in front of his desk.
He walked away from the closet and put on Virgil's hoodie--what was sitting on the chair--instead. While he was at it, he grabbed his phone out from under his bed, seeing a notification from Virgil again.
It was just a good morning text.
But, boy, did it give him butterflies. Roman wasn't even really sure why. He sighed happily and stuck the phone in his pockets. He sank into his chair and quickly applied his foundation for the day, swapping out the shorts he'd slept in for some leggings. He re-tightened his bracelet from Virgil's Mapa.
Roman quickly went down his stairs, slipped on his shoes, and went outside. When he'd made his way outside the gate, he saw a certain emo leaning on the fence.
"Virge?" He smiled. Virgil jumped a bit, then turned to him with a grin. "What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Princey," Virgil said. "I just wanted to see if you'd maybe want to like... walk to school... with me?" Virgil asked awkwardly. More awkward than usual, he noted. Maybe he was reading in too much, though. Roman snickered a bit.
"Well, you wouldn't have to ask for that." Virgil refrained from eye contact as he chuckled a bit with a small 'yeah'.
"You're wearing my hoodie?" Virgil giggled a bit, still more of a nervous laugh, but Roman didn't pay much attention.
"Oh-," Roman exclaimed, running his hands over the fabric. "Yeah, I am. It's really... comfy." He silently thanked whatever omnipotent being was above for the foundation masking his flushed face.
"Uh-... cool, good, great-." Virgil stammered.
The two walked to school, talking openly and laughing at each other's jokes.
When they arrived at priso- school, Virgil waved Roman goodbye and disappeared to wherever he usually went.
Roman felt pitiful sitting in the classes where he didn't have friends. However, eventually, he'd gotten to the class that he and Virgil shared. He excitedly walked in, bouncing his leg in anticipation as he waited.
Virgil walked in, Roman smiled, waving to the emo.
Virgil sat in the seat beside him, of course.
"Hey, Romeo." Virgil said with a smile.
"Hello, Juliet." Roman replied--not much thought behind the words.
"Oh, wherefore art thou, Romano Cheese?" They both snickered, silencing as the class started.
When lunch came around, they sat over with Logan and Patton again.
"Oh, Roman, I wanted to tell you," Romman looked up, humming in query. "Don't freak out-, but my mom contacted some authorities for your situation." Roman felt his whole being flip.
Roman glanced at Patton and Logan, they looked invested in whatever conversation they were having.
"Uh- oh, yeah- um, okay." He cursed himself for the string of verbal strangeness.
"Princey, really, try not to worry. I don't want you to panic about it, this would no be the right disco for a panic," Roman giggled, despite the thought of his impending doom. "She also specifically told them to keep it stealthy to avoid conflict." Virgil explained quickly.
Roman nodded. He was so scared, honestly. But he trusted Virgil, now.
"Okay," Was all Roman could really figure to say. "Do you know what they're gonna do first?"
"Mom said that they were gonna try to get evidence, which I think you're the evidence enough, but then for the best chance with your safety, they're gonna try to catch him when you're not home. She said they might come in to question you both next week, but they also might not. We're still getting updates."
Roman smiled to himself.
Next Week.
