The building was huge. Huge enough for Namjoon to bend backwards to watch it completely. He was really nervous. The last-minute doubts were creeping in like poison. Was he doing something that he will regret later? It was becoming hard for him to breathe but he gulped and closed his eyes to calm his nerves. He held the strap of his bag tightly and opened his eyes. He exhaled through his mouth, "Let's do this, Joon-ah. You can do this."
He entered the building and there was a receptionist in the lobby. What kind of apartment needs a receptionist? He slowly walked to the receptionist and cleared his throat, "Excuse me..." The receptionist looked at him, "Can I... Umm, I am here for-"
"Kim Seokjin?"
Namjoon's eyes went wide and he turned back. A man stood there, smiling. He didn't look Korean. His hair was parted from the side. The man was dressed in very expensive clothes. He was wearing a black silk shirt, sleeves folded till his elbow and white dress pants. The shirt was way too big for him, but he styled it in a way that suited him the best. It looked like he worked out a lot, looking at his hands and the way he stood. As he smiled, Namjoon was really mesmerised. Though he was a bit shorter than Namjoon, he looked really stunning. "I will take you to him."
Namjoon bowed, "Ah, thank you very much." Namjoon followed the man to the elevator. He didn't know if he should trust a complete stranger. Not to mention he was a foreigner. He didn't get the time to think as the door opened. Namjoon silently followed the man into the elevator. The elevator was about to close when a shoe stopped the door. The door opened revealing Kim Seokjin smirking. He was wearing a black three-piece suit with a black overcoat. He entered the elevator and stood between Namjoon and the man.
"Misleading a man to your house is considered kidnapping." Seokjin turned to the man with a faint smirk on his face, "I thought you would know such basics, Kim Mew."
Mew clenched his jaws, "My name is Mew Suppasit. And I wasn't kidnapping him, I was just saving him from you, Kim Seokjin."
Seokjin chuckled, "Even after living in Korea for so long, you don't know how to talk to your elders?"
Mew tilted his head, "Even after 35 years, you don't know your place as an illegitimate child!"
Seokjin chewed the inner lip and smiled, "Imagine how useless you are as a legitimate child that appa had to hand over the business to me. Try to grow up, Mew Suppasit. Maybe then, appa will consider you as his heir."
Mew was about to say something when the elevator stopped and the door opened. Seokjin sighed, "Well then, I will leave you alone. I have more important matters at hand rather than taming a brat. See you later dongsaeng."
Mew looked at the back of the boys as Seokjin closed the door of his apartment behind him. He closed his eyes, "Fuck. He is right. I will have to do something to prove myself." He looked at his phone and smirked, "Just wait and watch, Kim Seokjin."
Seokjin led Namjoon to his living room after giving him the house slippers, "Sit on the couch, I'll be back."
After a while, Seokjin came back from the room he had gone to. He had changed into comfortable clothes now, wearing a white t-shirt and black sweatpants. He sat on the couch opposite Namjoon, "Sorry for the family drama."
Namjoon shrugged, "It's alright." Can't relate! He thought and laughed internally. Honestly, sometimes he felt empty and lonely when he would realise that he didn't have a family to share his happiness and sorrows with. But when he saw the mess up families, he was glad that he was an orphan rather than being a part of some family drama.
"So, you have thought this through?"
Namjoon nodded, "Yes."
Seokjin hummed. He was going to say something when the door opened and Hoseok came in, "Sorry for being late." He was wearing a black shirt paired with a leather jacket and skintight jeans.
Seokjin gave a curt nod and patted the space beside him, "We just started. Going somewhere?"
Hoseok nodded, "Just to some club. Anyway, I made a contract." He took out some papers and gave one copy to Namjoon and the other to Seokjin. He looked at Namjoon, "Go through it and tell me if you want some changes."
Namjoon took the papers and started reading carefully. Apparently, he was "Party B". There was no name in the entire contract. There were rules and some were just absurd. 'Keep the body clean.' Who do they think he is? A Gypsie? 'No body hair.' He wanted to roll his eyes so hard. Everything else was pretty much okay. He looked at Hoseok, "I'd like to add some things."
Hoseok nodded and took out a pen from his bag, "Go on."
"I won't be available during exams and two days before important presentations," Namjoon said slowly as he saw Hoseok writing it on a piece of paper. "Also, inform me at least 3 hours before you want to see me. I have other things to take care of as well..."
Hoseok looked at Seokjin with a questioning gaze. Seokjin nodded and Hoseok wrote it down. Seokjin looked at Namjoon, "Did you bring the marksheets?"
Namjoon took a file out of his bag and gave it to Seokjin. Seokjin went through the file and chuckled, "He is smarter than you, Hobi-yah."
Hoseok looked up from the paper, "What are you saying?" Seokjin passed the file to Hoseok and Hoseok gasped, "What the fuck? How do you score above 4 in all years?" He grumbled, "Must be every professor's favourite student."
Namjoon shook his head, "They don't like me at all. Actually, many of them hate me for asking too many questions."
Hoseok chuckled, "You are carrying on my legacy, huh?" He looked at Namjoon, "Have you told anyone about this whole arrangement?"
Namjoon gulped. Of course, he had. How was he supposed to make a decision alone? He nodded, "To my friends... You met everyone at the house."
Hoseok nodded, "Right. I will get their signs."
"Huh?" Namjoon looked at them with wide eyes, "Why their sign?"
Hoseok smiled sweetly, "The signs are for NDA. You can not tell anyone else about this agreement. I will take the signs from the others."
Seokjin nodded, "Hoseok, make the changes in the contract and bring it to me. We will sign it. Tomorrow."
Hoseok nodded, "Anyway, I will leave you guys alone. Enjoy." He smirked at Seokjin before leaving the house.
Seokjin hummed, "So you have three jobs?"
Namjoon nodded, "Two cafes and a gas station."
Seokjin scrunched his face, "Leave the gas station one."
"Huh?" Namjoon looked at Seokjin with wide eyes, "What? Why?"
Seokjin scoffed, "Because I said so. I don't want you to smell like petrol. I hate that smell."
Namjoon closed his eyes. He was really annoyed by how Seokjin was talking to him like he owned Namjoon. But wasn't Namjoon selling himself for his studies?
"Don't think too much about it." Namjoon's chain of thoughts broke, "The more you'll think about the more you'll want to back out." Seokjin looked at Namjoon, "So, future lawyer, why don't you show me what that mouth can do aside from arguing."
